Nintendo 3DS - Page 4

Just an update concerning pricing. RE Revelations has been dropped to $40. I have a feeling that pre-orders were substantially below expectations at the old $50 price.

A thought to keep in mind for prospective 3ds purchasers. Don't be surprised if nintendo releases an updated 3ds in the next few months. Capcom is releasing the circle pad pro, a rather clumsy and clunky looking peripheral that adds a right analog pad to the 3ds for $20. How long before nintendo adds a right analog pad to the 3ds along with other badly needed upgrades such as a battery that doesn't suck so bad. I barely get three hours from my 3ds and an upgraded 3d screen that isn't as finicky as this one for viewing 3d.

Regarding game pricing it comes down to value for the dollar. RE mercenaries, for example has recycled assets from RE4 and RE5 and is essentially nothing more than the bonus minigames from those two games. $40? No, thanks. Take a look at an upcoming sega game, Crush 3d. EB has listed for $34.99. Crush is a 5 year old psp puzzler. it was available on PSN for $15.99, didn't sell so they dropped it to $9.99. How sega thinks $34.99 on the 3ds is going to sell is beyond me, when you can pick up a great puzzler in Pushmo off the eshop for $6.99.

Hm, maybe they're consciously trying to drive consumers away from physical media and toward download games.

How would that be a good idea for them, since the games that cost $40 to buy also cost several million to make?

Mutant Mudds is a cool eShop title. I play a little every night. Very recommended if you like throwback sidescrollers.

What I meant was getting consumers to buy the download version instead of physical media *of the same game.* We all know how much they're jonesin' for that!

I can see your point on that, but I don't think there are any 3DS games for download, as in full retail releases that are also up for download. Eventually, moving towards more downloads is probably good for business to cut down on the costs of making something that goes on a store shelf but it would also piss off their retail partners by cutting them out of the loop.

Some companies are interested in that, but I don't think Nintendo is one. They are just now getting around to embracing DLC. And demos.

Nintendo announced a significant system update for April 25. There will now be a folder system for organizing the main menu, which is a major relief. Also, they will have a game patching system in place, with the first up being Mario Kart 7. No more Maka Wuhu glitch exploitation! Wuhu! I'm sure some will be enraged by that, but I'm glad to see a great course taken off the "broken and useless" list.

I think the best announcement was New Super Mario Bros. 2 coming out later this year.

Yeah, New Super Mario 2 is a must.

I'm a little disappointed that Kid Icarus is such a Stylus intensive game. I'm not much for that so I'll skip it.
Next up is Star Fox for myself(also buying a copy for my niece for her birthday).
