Speaker Sibilance

Thread Starter
I own a pair of Brain L810 3-way speakers and love them. However, over time, they seem to have a growing level of sibilance. My guess is that the cause is failing crossover parts, but, really, I don't have a clue. Both speakers seem to "sibilate" , in unison.

Can anyone chime on this problem and propose any solutions?

Thanks.

The speaker surround may have deteriorated to point where it's cracked.  (The surround is the piece that goes around the circumference of the speaker.)  This can be replaced separately from the rest of the speaker.

The only parts of the crossover that can deteriorate are the capacitors.  That is easy to determine by looking at them.  There will be a liquid leaking out of them.  Resistors and inductors don't deteriorate, they just fail by burning up.
