Thread Starter
Please don't use ads that start playing with audio on. I don't want to loose my job because I visit this site at lunch.

Edit!!!  The audio off button doesnt even work in the ad and it just keeps playing

Please tell me this is a mistake.

now I am hearing 2 adds playing at the same time

Second the motion. For the time being I'll have to engage the keyboard mute button during visits to the forum.

If you encounter any ads that are a problem, please send a PM to adamfarren, or email him at: adamfarren@hometheaterforum.com. Include as much information as possible about the ad that's causing the problem.

Adam has the ability to block specific ads, and he will do so if you give him the means to identify the offending ad.

The ads in question are called "Mevio Entertainment Player", and are basically a constant mini TV channel of non-stop commercials, some of which have an audio off button and some of which don't. If you click audio off for one ad, the audio will return for the next one. In addition to making it impossible to visit this site while listening to music, I believe they also are causing Firefox to frequently crash as well.

Thanks for the heads up. They are really annoying and we have been letting Adam know about these but if they continue let him know as Michael stated. That way he can go about getting them blocked from the site.

I reported these ads a couple of days ago in the "#&@%ing Counter Ad" thread.

I came back tonight to pile on when I saw this new thread.

First, I ran into the ads when I logged on tonight.  This time I went to the top of a thread page, heard the audio and couldn't find it until I went to the bottom of the page:

HTF Audio Ad #2.jpg

Then, when I came to the Feedback Forum, I found this:

HTF Audio Ad #3.jpg

Then, when I clicked on this thread, I got this:

HTF Audio Ad #4.jpg

As you can see, the ads have become pervasive.  Like others above have noted, the "Audio Off" option doesn't work.  The ads also drain the resources on my meager PCs and slow things down to a crawl. m

Just trying to figure out why I can't see the images in Post #6.  Strange.

Mike, I don't know why, but those image links give me a "not found" error. If you still have the screen shots, you may have to re-upload them.

Wonder what happened?

They are not on the PC where I am now.  I'll have to check on my machines at home.  They must be there.  I'll post them again later.

That's really weird.  I see them in edit mode and I see them in the above quote in edit mode.  But something tells me I won't see them anymore when I push "submit."

While I can't say that we will never have an audio ad or popup ad again, we have worked very hard behind the scenes to kill them, including rolling out some new ad quality tools that Parker is making good use of.  Things are much better lately.  Thanks for your patience while we got things sorted out.
