So I have the Denon and it is 7.1 capable but only has pre outs for back two channels. Here is the kicker, and I am almost certain myself that this is in no way possible, but I thought I would give it a try. The reciever is only 75 W per channel. Not enough to power for tower speakers, but very capable of powering the satelite type speakers I am using. What I would like to do, (Ideally) is use the 75 W to power the back channel and use the preouts (that are suppose to be for the back channels) for the fronts and switch to towers. (there are no preouts for the fronts.) Is there any way to switch the audio going to the preouts and the front channel. Stupid question I know, just thought I would take the long shot.

Unfortunately that will not work. Most 5.1 receivers that have pre-outs for 7.1 fall into one of two camps: the pre-outs only support rear surround or they are switchable between rear surround or front height channels. I think your denon falls into the latter camp, but that still won't meet your needs.
If you pick out towers that are very efficient, the 75w may work . . . still not ideal, but may produce acceptable results.
