JUSTIFIED - season 1 - Page 2

The show with the Hitler art collection has been the best one so far. Very enjoyable.

I agree I like Olyphant alot and the basic premise is good it's just lacking something, the episodes themselves are getting less interesting as the series progresses, I liked the one with the Dentist Mob Guy, and the Artwork. I'm less interested in Reylan's Dad. It needs something, a little more  of someting just can't put my finger on it.

That's exactly where I'm at with the show....it's just missing "something".
Besides Reylan's f-'d up love life, and wanting to put away his daddy, and the guy in jail, is there an interesting season-long arc running through the show yet?  Perhaps I missed it.  I'm lukewarm to the show at this point as well.

Well, ask and you shall receive. This episode had that exact "something" I'd been looking for and it was definitely my favorite since the pilot.

Great episode.  If not for the bizzarro crappy directing with the faux-artiste 'wandering camera'.

But, I loved Bo Crowder (dig that actor) coming to his son's rescue.  Those two are scary.  And, I dug the twist on the sheriff and the hit.

Some good stuff tonight.

I think the reason I liked this ep as well at the pilot is the shooting.  I think this show needs shooting in every ep.

The special investigator will be kept busy keeping up with Ryylan's tally.

Thanks for mentioning that, bizzarro is the word.

I like that guy too. The only things I can remember him in off the top of my head are Lost and Con Air, but I think he's cool. He could be a really great addition to this show.

Justified was picked up for a second season. According to Deadline Hollywood:
Quote:

FX has picked up freshman drama Justified for a second season with a 13-episode order.  The Western/cop drama starring Timothy Olyphant  is in the midst of airing its first season, with six more episodes slated to  run before the the season finale on June 8. Justified got off to a stellar ratings start, drawing 4.9 million viewers, for its premiere, the largest audience ever for an FX series debut. It has dropped since then but still averages a solid 3.4 million viewers (1.7 million of them in the 18-49 demographic) through its first seven episodes. It also has garnered some of FX’s best new series reviews.

Glad to hear it. I'm enjoying this series so far.

Big guy - M.C. Gainey.

I remember him as Big Smith on Brisco, a sometime villian for John Bly.

Agree he was scary as the Dad.

Totally agree. Seems like the series has really been picking up the pace over the last few weeks. Olyphant is fantastic in this role and I'm glad the show got picked up for a 2nd season.

That makes two of us!!!  I am really digging this show.  Every time I see "Shane" I think "Where the hell if Vic at damn it!!!" LOL....

Now that Bo and Boyd Crowder are both out of jail things should really get interesting for Marshall Givens.

Man!  A seriously awesome finale!  I just hope Goggins comes back.  Boyd Crowder is a great creation and such an interesting piece of this puzzle.

Winona is soooo smokin' hot.

I just love the way Olyphant plays Raylan.  He's so matter-of-fact when he speaks about the circumstances of his situations.  He's well aware of his weaknesses and the crap he puts himself in.

I am glad that Boyd was a changed man and just misguided instead of just BSing about his transformation for selfish reasons, he is a really great character.  I thought it was a good season and a great finale.  Also, I too love when Raylan knows he's in a tough spot and won't lie about how he got himself into that mess.

Goggins HAS to come back for S2.

The action beat after Boyd shot the guy in the shack where Raylan shot the guy covering him multiple times in the torso while taking both guns off of him was the best 1-1/2 seconds of television I have seen in a while.

Ken you and me both.  I also loved the head shot while they were stuck in the shack.  I had to rewind it to watch it a couple of times.  Great WTH moment and holy cow they showed that.

The season ended on a great note.  Setting up next season perfectly to start off with Boyd going after the Miami cartel.

Can't wait!

3 episodes in and am enjoying but now wow'ed yet.  I understand the show went more serialized later on - hope things pick up then.

Finally finished the season on Hulu (gave up the higher Fx-included tier to get HBO  and TRUE BLOOD) and found the season to be wonderful.  It has some things in common with Deadwood outside of Olyphant.  That was also considered a Western but had almost no bullets flying, either.  When it did happen it was important and cool.  The rest was attitude, story, and character development.  But  my favorite parallel is the dialogue.  Both had an unreal, heightened dialogue that I really appreciated in this show.  My tastes change from time to  time but the more realistic dialogue of shows or movies have left me cold any more. I want something more akin to Shakespeare...telling a tale with language not completely the same as what we say or hear in our own worlds.  Deadwood was closer to  the iambic pentameter  of the Bard but this has the crisp cadence of Leonard who has his own heightened style.  I love it.

The finale was amazing and I concur with the above comments  about the few seconds that it took him to turn the tables at the final shootout.    Amazing.  I loved Boyd's transformation, too.  What was niftier was the creepy  'pow' by Givens at the very end...hinting that if he had the ammo, he very well may have shot his one time friend.

I really am looking forward to the new season.  Now that the Crowders are all but  gone as the local power I assume the vacuum won't stay empty for long.  Some new thug will find his way there but really his role of marshall won't  have much to do with that so we will see him doing more fugitive hunts  and prison transport missions again, I would assume.  More standalones like the Hitler art or prison hostage ep would be fine by me.

Also on a side note, I love Gangstagrass, the group that does the theme song.   They have a whole album of that style of  blue grass meets rap and it is fun stuff.  FYI.

I finally just caught up on this one.  The show really seemed to improve as it went on...I almost bailed after 4 episodes (actually sort of did, but a friend recommended I stay with it and I still had them on the DVR so here I am).

Still not sure about Walton's accent though...

Since Walton grew up in Alabama I think I'll buy his accent any day.

Pretty sure the accent he used in 'Justified' is nothing close to his real Alabama accent...unless he was hiding it in interviews.  I think his true accent is more like what he had in 'The Shield'.

When's the new season?

Probably not until the spring.  Fall is for Sons of Anarchy.  Winter seems to be their new show "Lights Out" (and Archer).  Justified premiered in the spring, so I assume that is when it will be coming back.
