kowalski65,
though Miss Bouchet's, er...finer physical talents are not on display in
the episode, she does have plenty of natural poise, charm and sophistication
to spare, and she is downright sexy and flirtatious with Admiral Nelson(and
seems to be the cause of jealous feelings from the Admiral's secretary)!
I think it would have been very impact-full in the minds and memories of
Voyage's (male) fans, if the bikini and scuba gear scenes had somehow made
their way into the episode, but those photos were just some publicity shots
and not scripted!
On the subject of episodes from the latter part of season 4,
I like 'Flaming Ice', as well as 'Savage Jungle' and I've always felt that it too,
is a fun, guilty pleasure.
I have always found it to be much more Satisfying than 'Abominable'.
I do tend to like some of the later, outrageous episodes,('Leprechauns',
other than Chief Sharkey's humor, not so much)!
Does anyone find that the humor among the cast in the 4th season seems to
be cranked up a notch?
I always heard that Irwin didn't want the parts written with any humor on Voyage,
maybe because he was distracted by creating 'Giants' at this time, they were
able to sneak more humor into the writing and portrayals of some of the leads.
I think that 'The Abominable Snowman' had potential to be a better episode
than it was, as did 'The Lobster Man', which reminds me:
has anyone read the out of print book, about the behind the scenes goings-ons
at Fox in the late '60's?
It is called "The Studio" and it is mainly about the filming, marketing and hype
surrounding the musical "Doctor Dolittle", but has side chapters about Irwin
Allen's productions, particularly, I.A. directing and filming the pilot of Land Of The Giants
(in great detail!) and the pilot presentation for 'Man From The 25th Century".
They have a part about them trying to build the costume for the Lobster Man on
Voyage and other details, but not a great deal about it, as that show was
nearing it's completion.I wonder what the episode's production order for
'Lobster' was? It would reveal when exactly the Giants pilot was filmed..
'67 or '68(...my guess is probably early in '68).
Anyway, it is a rather neat book, ironic in that, 'Planet Of The Apes'(..a movie
much less expensive to make), was the runaway hit that they were trying with
all their might and money to make 'Doctor Dolittle' into(..which certainly wasn't)!
By the way, I really enjoy everyone's input and stories that they share here on
this forum and about this fun show!
Thanks!
