Newbie. Not impressed with my new gear. Please help.

I just got this setup a couple of months ago and am not all that impressed with the audio. I don't know ANYTHING about home audio and wondered if there was any pointers as far as settings or set up that I needed to look at to see if everything was right or if I got the wrong gear. Any help would be greatly appriciated. Thanks!

Here's my set up:
Receiver:    Yamaha HTR-6260
BR Player:  LG BD390
Speakers:   Dayton HTP-1 w/10" powered sub
Wires:        All wires came from monoprice.com

Two things to consider.  First, did you calibrate the system?  Second, those speakers are pretty low end.  Did you hear them in the showroom and like them?  If yes, then maybe the calibration wasn't done correctly.  If you purchased them blind and can return them, give us a budget and we can provide suggestions.
