Bought Pionnerc BDP-320 Blu Ray player, looking for speakers / home theater to hook up; on tight budget < $350). Please advise.

Not much that's worth a great deal in that price range, but an Amazon.com partner currently has an Onkyo system on sale for $309.99 plus shipping.  Short of a good deal like that, I'd look for a decent entry-level audio/video receiver and a pair of cheap stereo speakers.  Then you can gradually replace those speakers and add others as you can afford them.  The only alternative is to wait until you can save up and buy a decent system.  Honestly, a decent powered subwoofer to match the capabilities of the lossless audio formats available on Blu-Ray would cost more than your entire stated budget, so you're not going to get "Blu-Ray sound" for $350 in any event.  It comes down to what kind of compromise you want to make.  I'd rather start with a good receiver and a pair of "disposable" speakers than buy an "all-in-one" with lots of even cheaper speakers and a receiver that has few modern features, and no potential for upgrading or adding components later.

Joe

Thanks Joe. I am waiting for Pioneer receiver VSX-520K, then I will think of buying "good" speakers. I have an old Philips DVD Home theater to listen until then.

Is it a good one? I am newbie and have no idea about receivers. The 3D features interests me :-)

Sorry, I haven't been in the market for a new receiver in almost ten years, and the last two brands I've owned have been Onkyo (current) and Denon (previous two.)  So I don't know a lot about the quality of current offerings generally (except by reputation) and don't have any personal experience with Pioneer receivers - old or new.  You might try a search on "Pioneer receiver quality" or "Pioneer receiver review" or even just the model number here on the forum and you should get some useful information.

Regards,

Joe
