South Park: Season Fourteen - Page 5

This week's episode is called Mysterion Rises. I can only assume this is the first time that a movie title has been parodied by a TV show 2 years before the movie actually comes out.

I just watched Coon 2, and am wondering if Kenny is suppose to be Mysterion? They don't directly address it, but by process of elimination it would seem to be the case. It could only be (very subtle) misdirection though.

I was wondering if Kenny was Mysterion as well.

Well, now we know it's Kenny and what his super power is.  Great episode tonight; much better than last weeks, IMO.  I LOL'd when the DP president turned to the camera and started the mocking of the LeBron "what should I do" commercial.  Cartman on Cthulu's belly was great, too.

Yeah, after a couple duds, this one came back in a big way. Having Kenny in a costume that doesn't block his mouth allows them to really flesh out his character in a way they normally can't. I love the idea of his regular resurrection as his own personal hell; that feeling of "Am I the only one who notices what is going on?"

The third and final part airs next week, which effectively means that we've had a South Park TV movie.

They do, very clearly, say that Kenny is Mysterion. Not sure how you'd have a question about that?

yeah not sure how you missed the part where they went 'kenny!! your parents were arrested too!!' and mysterion runs over there in a normal voice and goes 'what!?" and then when he confronted his parents how 'mysterion' told them to treat thier family better and give them allowances. Then the whole part of obvious holding the gun to his head and the monologue about how he returns to life every day

He was referring to the episode from last week (which is called 'Coon 2: Hindsight') and not last night's episode.

Ah, that's how

I thought the first half of this week's episode was hysterical, but the second half was just weird.  Looking forward to next week. . .

While I like Kenny as Mysterion and his "super power" I think it would have been better if it had turned out to be Wendy. That girl is ruthless.

Maybe Cthulhu is Wendy in disguise. smiley_wink.gif

A very entertaining episode about the shakey weight.  Everyone thinks the same thing about the shakey weight and this episode did a great job with it.  I much prefer the satirical episodes where they take something rather obvious and push it pretty far without going completely overboard for just shock effect.

I was wondering if the ending was going to have Randy use the byproduct from his "Old Fashioned" as his missing creme frisse in the Iron Chef competition.

Randy is my favorite supporting character so I'm glad they did an episode centering on his unending stupidity. Randy jerking off to the cooking shows and thinking that Cartman was Gordon Ramsey and Sharon using the weight were all very funny gags.

Overall, this was a very funny wrap up to the season. Eventhough I tend to agree with them when they do 'message' episodes, I'm glad they just stuck to being silly and making fun of stuff this run.

The Randy stuff was just OK but the Shake Weight material was awesome.

Finally an episode I enjoyed the entire way through, liked how the 2 subplots ended up with a happy ending.

Was that pun intentional? drum.gif

Just making sure people are still reading my posts...

Finally got to see last week's episode.  Loved the

Shake Weight with its cool misting and cab fare.

One of the better South Park episodes though

the show certainly hasn't been falling from my graces.

I continually say this about the show but it bears repeating....

I look at some of these shows like Family Guy that have

been around forever and seem like they have run out of

steam long ago.  Still a huge fan of FG but the quality of

shows are inconsistent.

South Park seems different.  Matt and Trey have kept

this show funny and fresh.  Perhaps the fact they aren't

on a more censored network like Fox is the reason why

they have been able to push the envelope and keep the

level of humor up there.  It's not jut the fact South Park

generates lots of laughs each week but the fact that the

ideas they come up with are fresh and topical.

South Park managed to go from a crudely animated, show about four foul mouthing children to a satire show, that can include topics from the week before, if they need to. Since most shows take several months to animate, that's a huge advantage for them. If you compare the previous episode to anything from the first season, the difference is massive. While that's also true for The Simpsons, South Park does manage to still feel fresh, though they haven't been around as long.

Anyway, this episode was once again a truly funny one. My brother didn't realize those shake weight things were real, he confessed. That made it even funnier for me, though the joke in the episode is funnier when you know those absurd things exist. Yes, the internet made fun of it long before Matt and Trey did, but not quite the way they did.

Sometimes when I see those early episodes I kind of miss that very crude animation. To me it was part of the charm of the show. Obviously, it's still crude by "normal" standards, but plenty of modern, computerized animation touches.

I don't know if I miss the old animation as much as I see things in newer episodes that look too good for South Park like the Cartman and Kyle big wheel chase or Randy using his swollen testicles as a bouncing ball or Cthulhu.

I kinda like the more modern look. The show is so different (pace, types of stories, most of the character's voices have all changed drastically) from when it just started, that animation that crude would look wrong.

They are on there. Netflix has done a weird consolidating thing where they put all the season of a show under one heading.

Look for South Park (1997) and click on that, then all the seasons are listed under it.

Not sure if this link will work:
