Breaking Bad Season 3 - Page 4

I think the main reason Walt is so loyal to Jessie is the guilt he feels at letting Jane die.  When he did it he thought he was just finding a way out of a problem only to realize later how wrecked Jessie was over it.

I also think that Walt realized Jessie's point about using the kids and the unseemly side of the trade.  The contrast between the sterile lab and the gritty street is remarkable.  He's starting to come out of the lab.  The funny thing is, as much as he has distaste for that side of the business, it looks like he has to go there if he wants to reform it.  However, once he goes there I don't think you can come back.

All valid points, and I think you also have to consider the fact that Walt has to keep Jesse out of jail, just to keep him from talking.

I think that Walt genuinely likes Jesse and doesn't want to see him dead but most importantly, Walt knows that Jesse wouldn't be in this situation if it wasn't for him. Not that Jesse is an innocent victim but if not for Walt, Jesse would be a street level dealer and not in a position to be angering kingpins.

You might be right, but I'm not 100% convinced.  Part of me thinks Walt really does detests Jesse and just feels sorry for him.  I think your second point about guilt is more valid.

Wow, what an ending to possibly one of the best overall seasons of television I've ever seen.

The ending really caught me off-guard because my DVR recording showed one hour and 47 minutes so I thought that's how long the finale would be, but the last 47 minutes was a sneak preview of that new show.

So when does season 4 start?

The look on Mike's face when Walt spits out the address was great.

The decision to move the conflict from the Cousins to Walt and Gus was an inspired one. My God the tension in the last couple of episodes has been unbearable.  Any time Walt and Gus had a scene together as they continually measure each other up - even if its just looking at one another with no dialogue - are moments of acting and story telling beauty.

Keep waiting for Gus's calm, phlegmatic exterior to crack. That will be a helluva scene to see.

Mike is one bad dude.

Awesome finish to an intense season.  What a great cast.

Good post S3 interview with creator Vince Gilligan - http://tinyurl.com/28lfh5x . Interesting to note that he purposefully approached the season with no set season arc in place.  It sure worked out pretty good for him this season.

Awesome, awesome, awesome!

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

The final scenes with Hank calling Jessie, telling him what he needs to do - Jessie hesitating for a moment and booking out of where ever he was, to the final scene where he has to shoot Gale.

I didn't think that Walt knew his time was up, should've known better, he knew all along.

Walt and Gus are playing a fine game of chess.  Who do you sacrifice?  Who do you protect?

Could Walt aka Heisenberg end up taking over Gus's empire next season?  That would be cool.

That's my guess.  Makes sense story-wise.  I mean, Gus isn't going to forget about what happened.  So this might make an interesting way to extend the series at least into a 5th season.  (does anyone think it's going to end @ 4?  I don't)

Great season.  I almost feel guilty for watching it and rooting for the "bad" guys.

I don't know.  Would Walt even want that job?  I think the control freak in him may, but he's all about the chemistry.  Of course he's been pretty unpredictable since the series pilot so I guess anything is possible.

By the way, thanks for posting that interview Lou.  I can't believe they basically made this season up as they went along.  I guess I have to rethink my theory that a show can never be successful under those circumstances.

Very good ending to the season.  I had suspected that it would have started down the road of a story about Hank really getting on the hunt for Heisenberg.  Perhaps that will heat up in the next season.  Obviously the faceoff between Walt and Gus has to be sorted out first.  Unless Walt brings Hank in on the whole sordid affair.  I mean, Hank is not exactly all gung-ho for his job anymore.  Just a thought.

Cant wait for next year.

"Rubicon" did interest me.  That was the first time I have ever seen a TV show "sneak" its way onto my PVR.  Clever!

I think that is what makes Gus interesting. He doesn't exactly appear intimidating, and seems like a very nice guy, yet not afraid to do what he's got to.

A great finale to a great season, and this show is miles above Weeds (which has become a pathetic joke these days).

From E!;

Breaking Bad's season finale: Good or bad? Good. The show scored a season-two-finale-beating 1.6 million viewers, and a renewal.

Just 1.6 million viewers? How could people not be watching this show? Nuts, I would've thought it would've been much higher.

I wonder if those numbers include those that DVR'd it and watched later?

I wish more people were watching but personally, I'm shocked that the show even has 1.6 million viewers. I would have guessed it was half of that.

In the long run, I imagine that AMC is reasonably happy with where the show is at right now. It's cable so the average high is 5 or 6 million viewers, the show is probably relatively inexpensive to produce (compared to Mad Men or Battlestar Galactica where they have to create the world) and the show has tons of critical love and a leading man who has already won the Emmy twice.

Awesome finale.

And I thought I was the only one whose DVR got tricked, but it seems they were doing that everywhere.

It definitely did its job and got me to watch, I just hope more networks don't catch onto that.
