Monoprice down! Where to shop?

I'm ready to buy a bunch of speaker wire, banana plugs and even a TV wall mount...and Monoprice is not taking orders indefinitely!

Where's a guy to shop for similar pricing? (I like and shop Blue Jeans but they don't have what I need for the price I need it.)

partsexpress.com is pretty good for some a lot of items and they often have a lot of clearance itmes.   Their shipping can be a bit expensive at times, but I think anything above $100 is free.

Thanks. Checking them out. Not priced as low, but the selection and descriptions are pretty good so far.

Cables, etc. through Blue Jeans Cable and the ends, etc. through Ram Electronics both sponsors of this forum.

They will be back up Monday they say.  They are going through a standard PCI compliance audit based on a reporting issue; so far, though, no compromises have been found.

There are threads elsewhere saying that there are websites now that "hijack" and pretended to look like monoprice (inserting Monoprice into a frame) and then capturing people's number that way.

Bad deal, Spyware and all.

I placed an order on the 5th that is now in processing hell. It supposedly shipped on the 8th, which is the date the site went down, but the tracking number they gave me is stuck on "electronic shipping info received". Bad timing for this to happen all around, and the reason I use PayPal wherever possible.

I hope so. They're stating it could two weeks. If they're not up next week, I have to take my business elsewhere, which is bad for me and them.

These other places are good -- I've shopped RAM and Blue Jeans -- but Monoprice has a lock on the budget-priced accessories. Anywhere else and my price triples.

How does PayPal help vs Credit Card?

My order arrived today, so it must have gone through okay despite the craziness with the website.

If you pay with PayPal, Monoprice (or any other online store that accepts PayPal) doesn't have any of your payment information, regardless of whether you use a bank account or a credit card. Should it turn out that Monoprice's records were breached, the only thing that would show up is the PayPal money transfer.

I suppose PayPal itself could be breached but I bet they spend a lot more on protecting customer information than an online store that doesn't specialize in payment transactions.

I would hope so, as that's their entire business model.  If they suffer a breach, they're probably toast.

I had this same quandary this past week and I decided to go with yourcablestore.com mainly due to the fact that their prices for what I needed (3 HDMI cables) were as good or better than monoprice and their proximity to me....They are about 2hrs away from me so I ordered late tuesday evening (9pm or so), order went out wednesday first class usps, rcvd order thursday morning. Can't beat that!

Is there any central location on HTF to find links to all the forum sponsors?  On the old site there used to be something like "The HTF Mall," but I can't find anything similar on this new site. I placed an order with Blue Jeans Cable recently, but was not able to link through HTF because I couldn't find a link.

Yep, that's it. Never would have occurred to me to look in the Wiki area  (I don't even know what a Wiki is).

Thanks!

You might also check out Firefold if you're still looking for a place.  I have received fantastic service from them in the past.

My purchase has been on hold pending Monoprice's recovery. A quick search didn't find any stores with stock and prices to match Monoprice.

As for PayPal vs Credit Card. I have and use a PayPal account (when necessary), but I still have lingering unease with them. They've had their issues in the past, and are in some weird world that I don't understand of non-bank banking and non-credit card card services.

As of today, Monoprice is back online.

Good. They're taking credit cards again.
