Actor Corey Haim, 38, is dead after an accidental drug overdose. A spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Coroner confirmed that Haim, who battled substance addiction for several years, was found unresponsive in an Oakwood apartment and pronounced dead at Providence St. Joseph’s Medical Center at 2:15 a.m. this morning. His mother, according to FOX station KTLA, was in the apartment at the time.

Truly sad.  He had some demons.

But is it really accidental?  They know they're killing themselves - I think it's more of an intentional thing.

Poor guy, it's too bad that he couldn't beat his problems.

What amazes Me is that the Other Corey Survived Him.

As sad as I am about this I'm not all that surprised, either, Haim fought addiction to heavy drugs pretty much all his life.

It's easy to talk about his hits like The Lost Boys bit I remember him best from the smaller dramatic roles he did with Lucas probably being his best.

It's a fine line, but his intention was to get hammered, not to die. Therefore, unintentional.

Sadly, it was also amazingly predictable. His habit was well chronicled.

The other Corey has broken his silence.

"I was awakened at 8:30 this morning by my brother and sister knocking on my bedroom door," Corey Feldman wrote on his blog. "They informed me of the loss of my brother Corey Haim. My eyes weren't even open all the way when the tears started streaming down my face."

In the statement, the Two Coreys costar went on to express his sympathy for Haim's devastated family, friends and fans.

"I am so sorry for Corey, his mother Judy, his family, my family, all of our fans, and of course my son who I will have to find a way to explain this to when he gets home from school. This is a tragic loss of a wonderful, beautiful, tormented soul, who will always be my brother, family, and best friend."

Feldman urged those mourning the loss of Haim to not let his death be in vain.

"We must all take this as a lesson in how we treat the people we share this world with while they are still here to make a difference. Please respect our families as we struggle and grieve through this difficult time. I hope the art Corey has left behind will be remembered as the passion of that for which he truly lived."

Sad news but it was pretty much expected.  I'll probably watch a few of his movies this weekend but I was shocked to see how many of my co-workers had no idea who he was.

The other Corey is going to be on Larry King tonight for those interested.

Funny you say that, Michael. I was in a safety training class at work when the instructor's wife texted him saying Cory Haim died and most of the people in my class had no idea who he was.

I think it has to do with how quickly he came and went, 1980-1990 was the decade when he was at his most famous but after that he vanished from the Hollywood scene pretty fast.

Because he wasn't a constant presence through the decades it doesn't really surprise me if people don't remember him, or if they do they need reminding because they just forgot his name.

Here's the thing about Corey Haim.

For anyone who did know who he was, to hear of him dying of a drug overdose would have been the least surprising and pretty much be expected for years now. Harsh, but true and that was what was first reported - as expected.

However, that has been disputed:

Enlarged heart, chest congestion and the like. It all comes down to wait and see.

Not that it changes anything other than public perception. Not much, but it can be a powerful thing if you let it.

I liked the guy. I haven't seen his movies in years but he was a very interesting character. I never did get around to watching the A&E show.

Apparently the family doesn't even have enough money to bury him, which is incredibly sad.

I think Feldman is a media whore that will do anything to get attention and I'm sure he somewhat enjoys being back in front of all the cameras but I think he was correct the other night on Larry King when he talked about all the Hollywood "fans" coming out in support now that he's dead.  Feldman was right when he asked where the hell they were the past twenty-years when Corey needed a job or some type of help.

I watched LICENSE TO DRIVE and LUCAS this weekend and enjoyed both of them very much.  There was a rather (now) creepy part in LUCAS where the Green character asks Haim if he could see her dating a 38-year-old, which just happened to be the age Haim ended up dying.

There's been a marathon of "The Two Coreys" and several airings of "The Lost Boys" this weekend.

No not really, but my making boorish remarks about Corey Feldman's boorish remarks does seem kind of inappropriate here and I'm not inclined to rain on anyone's parade.

RIP....  I caught a few episodes of the "Two Corey's" and he didn't look or sound good.  Both me and wife thought it was a matter of time before something happens to him.

Very true. It's a shame what people do to themselves.
