I've been searching around a bit, and perhaps I'm not using the best terms but I can't seem to find much about cleaning this expensive equipment?! I'll apologize now if I missed something totally obvious.
MY new TV has a nice glossy finish......boy howdy is it glossy, and I hate glossy finishes because I always seem to f* them up trying to clean them. My viewsonic 22" wide monitor comes to mind. Had it for a day, used the absolute softest possible cloth to give it a gentle wipedown, and all of a sudden, scratches, not so noticable, but they are there and can be seen in the right light.....also has some kind of smudge that I've never been able to wipe off.
Anyway back on track, I know ammonia based cleaners are a no no, but I'm not sure what would be the best product to use.
Does 99% rubbing alcohol pose a threat? would alcohol and RO+DI water be harmful?
Most importantly, cloths..... I'm scared to use anything on it, both the glossy finish and the screen (I don't even know if the screen is glass or plastic) as previous experience has taught me that only the companies who make this stuff posses the magically imbued cloth that will clean without scratching. and I've tried lots, plain white shirt cloth, CD/DVD cloths, eyeglass cloths (they always seem to scratch my glasses too) shoe shine cloths etc.
LG did provide a neat little cleaning cloth with it, but it's just that, little. I'm not sure how I should go about cleaning the provided cloth either. it's a tad dusty now, and dust makes scratches.
Lastly, after peeling off the protective tape I noticed that my glossy factory finish has some scratches up on the top, a small patch both left and right sides, and what appears to be some form of.....imperfection? in the finish that keeps attracting dust in funny patterns. Wiping with the cloth alone seems to do nothing for it "HAH'ing" on it appears to be fruitless too, on top of making one dizzy, and I'm scared to clean it......
please help me not be scared or point me in the correct direction if I missed something, but I couldn't find anything similar to what I'm asking.
