Grabbed Dr. No for $12.99 yesterday! Too good to pass up at this price. Also got, somewhat reluctantly, the new Clash of the Titans Blu-ray - no one had this for under $29.99 (except Amazon of course but I don't like to wait for it to ship besides it'll end up being close to $30 anyway)

Please keep us up to date on everything you purchase, this is a fascinating topic.

Why rain on someone else's parade? If you don't like it, don't read it.

I've found a number of interesting titles by regularly checking the "latest hi-rez" thread in the music forum and I imagine the same will happen here.  No need to be snarky (especially since there is the potential for learning about a title being available in BD from posters who contribute while the usefulness of your observation is, well, zero.  Wasn't that fun?).

Edit: My last purchase was Inglourious Basterds and Dexter Season Two

Today I received the UK edition of the Gone with the Wind 70th Anniversary 2 disc set.  It has everything that the upcoming U.S. version does except for the third disc, which features the documentary When the Lion Roars in standard def.  Since I already have this disc from my Wizard of Oz Emerald Edition, I decided to save a few bucks and order from Amazon.co.uk.  Even with shipping and the exchange rate it cost me under $19 US.  About an hour after the mailroom delivered the parcel from Old Blighty, the UPS driver dropped off The Star Trek Movie Trilogy set (ST: II, III and IV), which Amazon has on sale for $29.99.

I don't usually stop for breakfast on the way to work in morning, but I'll be sure to post something the next time I do.

Regards,

Joe

I just purchased:

Godzilla 1998
The Patriot (Mel Gibson)
Under Siege
Under Siege 2: Dark Territory

I know many detest Godzilla 98, but, it still is a guilty pleasure for me. I watch it without referencing it as Godzilla. It's a decent American kaiju movie. ;)

I'm wanting to buy the Kill Bill Blu-rays but considering that they're $20 each, I've decided to hold off on buying them. If I can get both films for around $20-30, I'd probably snag them up.

The British Blu-rays of City Girl and Sunrise.

Also, The Informant! and Ponyo.

The last blu-ray I bought was Star Trek back in November. Haven't bought one since. I think before that there was about an 8 month lag.

I have BD-Live disabled currently until I learn more details on how it works and how it affects Blu-ray playback.

Yeah, I've disabled it on my relatively new Panny BD60 as well.  Don't really care much for what I've seen so far (via the old PS3), and would rather have much better load times, playback stability, etc. w/ it disabled on the BD60.

I'm sure you can find the combo for ~$30 (or maybe modestly less) somewhere, if you wait/look for a sale.  They seem to get discounted that much pretty often these days.

So I gather you must be pretty new to Blu considering all these titles you're picking up recently (along w/ the BD-Live "question").  Must be great to find some good deals on many of them.

As for my/our last BD purchase, that would be 500 Days of Summer at a recent Target sale (for ~$13) and, well, a couple other titles for the kids (also ~$13 each at Target):  Fame (2009) and Night at the Museum 2.  500 Days is pretty good, but not sure about its replay value though.

Was going to pick up Ponyo (w/ the Disney $10 coupon), but the wife couldn't find it at Target on release day for whatever reason and never got around to checking again, so looks like we missed out on it for now -- have no desire to spend more than ~$15+tax for it.

Happy shopping!

The BD live stuff on the Star Trek TOS sets is very cool. Video from the latest conventions, extra interviews with people involved in the restoration efforts, many in HD. Its really quite good. I've seen no playback issues because of BDlive, but then I have a PS3 and not much has an affect on its playback.

Well, my reason is that I've heard where some consumers have reported their Blu-ray players hanging up when they've tried to access certain Blu-ray BD-live content.

Its quite possible. Some stand alone blu-ray players are rather under powered for what they are asking them to do. The safe bet for a blu-ray player that is going to last and be update-able, is a PS3.

There is no evidence that the PS3 is the only player that will last. That is a misleading and inaccurate statement. The PS3 is just a game console that features the ability to play Blu-rays since PS3 games use the BR technology.

Might I remind you that every Blu-ray is updateable ... at least, the newer and more recent players are.

My recent purchases:

Casino Royale (Collector's Edition 9 BD Live)
National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets
X-Men Origins: Wolverine

;)

Which was never stated in the first place.
