Note: this thread was originally used for a contest.  There are a lot of good favorite moments here so I am renaming the thread and reopening it for non-contest participation.

Sample entry (unfortunately I'm not eligible).

One of my favorite Paramount moments is in Raiders of the Lost Ark when Indy is running through the market to find Marian and runs into the swordsman.  After watching an impressive display of swordsmanship an exasperated Indy just shoots him and continues the chase.

I'm in!

One of the great movie moments comes in Paramount's Sunset Boulevard when aged silent film star Norma Desmond responds to being told "You used to be big!" by William Holden's character, Joe Gillis.

Desmond's response:  I am big. It's the pictures that got small.

What a way to capture the state of mind of Gloria Swanson's character as she deals with her situation as a vestige of an earlier era in the history of cinema--a forgotten star whose time has passed her by.

And HERE is the HTF's review of the Centennial Collection DVD of Sunset Boulevard.  Here's hoping for a Blu-ray release sometime soon!

"The Godfather" when James Caan says in the Italian restaurant "I don't want my brother coming out with his dick in his hand"

Cecil B. DeMille's THE TEN COMMANDMENTS cries out for a restoration and presentation on Blu-Ray.

Besides the spectacle of the Exodus and Red Sea sequences, who can resist dialogue such as Yul Brynner's comment to Anne Baxter: "You will be mine, like my dog, or my horse, or my falcon, except that I shall love you more - and trust you less."

Other have bemoaned the need for a new transfer of this film here:

In "Tommy Boy," Tommy Boy catches Richard looking through the window at a gorgeous girl.  He asks, "Who's your favorite Little Rascal?  Was it Alfalfa?  Or was it *Spanky*?"

Coming to America

I always remember the opening credits with the Paramount logo...and then the camera zooms through and you are flying over Zamunda and into the film. Also, my favorite scene is without a doubt, Sexual Chocolate's performance. That boy is good!

Saturday Night Fever. The scene after the bridge incident, when Tony has taken just about all he can from the life he is living, boards a subway alone, as we hear the haunting Bee Gees song "How Deep is Your Love." The scene ends just as hauntingly with a shot of the World Trade Center at dawn.

 1995's Braveheart

The key scene for me was the pre-battle speech at Falkirk. This is a rousing piece of writing, acting and film making.

I've always loved Robert Harris' ' A Few Words About..." pieces so here is the link www.hometheaterforum.com/forum/thread/292861/a-few-words-about-braveheart-in-blu-ray

"The Hunt for Red October"

When the captain of the submarine (Sean Connery) meets the political officer in his quarters with the subtitles interpreting the Russian dialog, and the camera moves up close to the politcal officer's mouth, and then the speech changes from Russian to English, therefore
no need of subtitles from thence on.

Good question Sam.  I have clarified in my first post.  The moment has to be unique, the film doesn't.  It was to keep people from going "me too!"

The Godfather

The scene/sequence with Marlon Brando in the funeral home.

There are so many in this great movie but I didn't fully appreciate the above until I became a parent and just further emphasized the powerhouse performance by Marlon Brando.

SABRINA

The first moment that Bogart's character (Linus Larrabee) shows that he his falling for Sabrina:

Linus Larrabee: [slow dancing with Sabrina] How do you say in French my sister has a yellow pencil?
Sabrina Fairchild: Ma soeur a un crayon jaune.
Linus Larrabee: How do you say my brother has a lovely girl?
Sabrina Fairchild: Mon frère a une gentille petite amie.
Linus Larrabee: And how do you say I wish I were my brother?

Here's a review of the Centennial edition of Sabrina
