Problems with Reply Box not appearing

The past week, the Reply form has not been appearing correctly in threads. I click the thread title or Latest Posts link and the thread is loaded but the Reply box is not fully loaded and is unusable. The page must be refreshed, which usually fixes it.

Perhaps related, there have been other problems with clicking other action buttons. "Please Wait" type windows appear but the action never happens. I've seen this with New Thread, Reply, the in-quote link to go to the original post.

OS X 10.6.2
Firefox 3.6

More broadly:
Reply is not working.
Edit is not working.
New Thread is not working.

The Please Wait comes up and spins for several seconds, after which I lose patience and move on. This thread took two tries to make. I couldn't Edit the above post. Fortunately the Reply box appeared this time and I can update here.

I hope this is a short-term quirk, because it's an absolute killer for me. It literally blocks me from participating in HTF except for reading.

I started running into this last night too... I have to refresh once or twice, otherwise the reply box seems "grey" or non-existent.

Happened to me too, just a few minutes ago in fact.

And I've had problems with the "please wait" box that Dave mentioned, it won't go away, until you refresh.

I've had an issue with the "Reply" box showing up okay (or so I thought)...but then there's a wait until all the formatting buttons/options show up to go with it.  I'll be blissfully typing-in a reply, only to have it all taken away as the page continues to load and dumps everything I've typed already!

This happened to me a few months ago.   I was unable to reply on this computer at all, while others worked fine.  I deleted my cookies and that fixed it for me.

I just ran into the situation described above where the Reply Box doesn't show up at all (there's nothing into which to type text).

This was inside a PM.  I had to click "Reload" three times before the box finally showed up.

Three times!!! You're a winner!!! Your computer should have spit out quarters from the disc drive!

This problem also has also happen to me about 20 minutes ago and 15 Seconds ago. When I refresh one can write in the Reply area. I have XP-3rd and Fire Fox 3.6

Yep, this is now consistently happening to me unless I refresh a couple of times.  (Win7/Firefox, also occurs in OSX/Safari)

Thanks for letting us know you've been seeing this issue.  It sounds like a bug we've been working on which has to do with the use of iFrames in Firefox.  For those of you who haven't posted your browser, can you confirm you user Firefox?  Thanks.

For those without an imagination, here's what "No Reply Box" looks like.    I just ran into this a couple of minutes ago:

Is this still happening to others? Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't to me. I use Firefox 3.5.8 on XP.

Still an erratic issue. I know they're working on these bugs.

Happens to me a lot.

It took four tries for me to post this reply. And yes, I'm using Firefox.

For some reason, the problem seems to be worse at night than during the day.

It's a tidal effect. The moon pulls the javascript out of the browser. Or so I'm told...

Dave:  I think you're pulling our leg.  I really do.

Because I've been seeing this problem a few times today...and its the middle of the day where I am.  No moon involved.

Although I am working underground.  Maybe, instead, it's got something to do with the magnetic pull of the earth's core...

This happens to me all the time. Have to refresh the page 4 or 5 times before it populates correctly. Honestly this is getting REALLY old!

I'm on firefox run on vista.

To be serious, it DOES seem to be getting worse.

Another thing I'm running into...and I don't know if it's related (but it seems like it might be) is that in many instances I will click on the "Quote" button to bring up a member's quote in my reply box and the "Please Wait" box comes up (with the horizontal barber pole) and hangs--forever.  The only way to get out of this is to click my FF "Back" button--which is extremely disruptive to the task at hand.

Any chance of getting some kind of update as to what's going on with this?  Is this an issue that is still being worked on?

On the internet, no one know's your a (sarcastic) dog :)

It's an ongoing problem for me. Along with similar issues in Edit and Go-To-Quote buttons. It was said to be an issue with Firefox specifically.

Happening to me too.  Have tried at various times throughout the day to post to several threads only to be denied--- surprised it worked now.  Also having the same hang Mike describes.  I'm using Firefox 3.5.8 on a Mac.

I've seen that as well. Also I hit the quote button, and the quote won't come up. The only solution seems to be to close all open browsers, and then re-open them, then get back to HTF.

I also have the problem where one cannot write in the reply box. In fact with this post  I first had a non-write into box. This has happened a number of times in the last few days. I have XP-3  and Fixfox 3.6. Usually the problem is solved by hitting  reload. Just now  after the reload, I so the writeinto Reply but then was changed again into a non-write-into!
