Thanks very much - I did not know about this release.

You're welcome, Wade. I own the DVD, and can vouch for it. And thank YOU for the info about The Film Foundation restoring TRY AND GET ME / THE SOUND OF FURY, which I didn't know about.

Hooray! THE COLOSSUS OF NEW YORK (1958) has been announced for an August 16th release!

http://www.classicflix.com/olive-colossus-york-a-971.html

This doesn't seem to be in the original list of Paramount films licensed to Olive, so I'm guessing that another batch has been acquired? I'm hoping this means the other remaining unreleased-on-DVD 1950s Paramount sci-fi flick, THE SPACE CHILDREN (1958), might also be on the way, along with other MIA Paramount faves like THE BLISS OF MRS. BLOSSOM, UNMAN WITTERING & ZIGO, FRAULEIN DOKTOR, BLOOD & ROSES, GUNN,etc. I guess time will tell...

Gosh, I will probably buy this and find in a couple of months it will be released with THE SPACE CHILDREN on Blu Ray for the price of this standard DVD. I know they probably gauge these sales on what and what not to put on Blu, but I wish they would release both versions at the same time. This has happened now with HOUDINI, JAUNTY JALOPIES, THE SKULL, MAN WHO CHEATED DEATH and CRACK IN THE WORLD.

Where is "LOVE WITH THE PROPER STRANGER" with Natalie Wood and Steve McQueen?

Olive's releases of UNION STATION, DARK CITY, and APPOINTMENT WITH DANGER has only whetted my appetite for Paramount noir. Here's hoping they follow up with I WALK ALONE (1949), THE TURNING POINT (1952), NO MAN OF HER OWN (1950), HELL'S ISLAND (1955), SHORT CUT TO HELL (1957), THE TRAP (1959), and THE SCARLET HOUR (1956).

Olive or Lionsgate(hell, even Image, which released the original Paramount print of "The First Nudie Musical" on DVD instead of the World Northal reissue)should definitely put "Bugsy Malone" on DVD/Bluray since Paramount decided not to do it in 2005,even though they gave it a VHS release in the '80s. It's an excellent movie and one i remember fondly from my childhood.

Please someone make this happen.

Paramount sold the distribution rights to THE FIRST NUDIE MUSICAL after it only played New York and Los Angles.  They wanted to rid themselves of the film due to Cindy Williams starring in the hit TV show Laverne & Shirley.  ABC had a lot of influence over that decision.  World Northal ended up with the film and completed the national distribution.  It was not a reissue.  They did not even cut the Paramount logo off the front of the film to save money, which is why the logo can still be seen.  I would have thought that Paramount would have insisted that the logo be cut, but my World Northal film salesman was always joking he was now working for Paramount whenever I booked the film for the drive-ins lower half of the bill.  It actually would do very good in the drive-in's and was a great second feature with FLESH GORDON and even better with ALICE IN WONDERLAND (X).  Nothing like musical porn to sell out the back rows of a drive-in.

I know there are a lot of fans for BUGSY MALONE and for ya'lls sake, I hope a Blu-ray comes out, but this film is not in my favorites list.

A region-free Blu of BUGSY MALONE has been available for years. Extras are in PAL, though: http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/34121/bugsy-malone/

I'd love to see some more Noirish titles from the Paramount vault released through Olive, too.

I would certainly like to see NO MAN OF HER OWN (1950) released by Olive.  I missed it on TCM once years ago, and to my knowledge it hasn't aired since.

The question remains: which cut will Olive release?  The truncated U.S. version or the U.K. version with extended ending / epilogue?

Very pleased to read this about Breaking Glass. After hearing some of the tracks from the film (sung by Hazel O'Connor) it was a film I wanted to see.

I just want to complement Olive Films on a really good job they have done with the Paramount titles.  I have many of the releases and enjoyed HURRY SUNDOWN in all its camp glory last night and next up is SUCH GOOD FRIENDS.  Two Preminger titles that have eluded me over the years,  From CRACK IN THE WORLD and UNION STATION to the present two transfers have been good, especially THE MOUNTAIN.  My only grip is I wish there were trailers with them, but trust me, this is not a deal breaker.  Thank you Olive Films for your attention to creating a good product and releasing titles that are on a lot of people's want list from Paramount.  With the new announcements, I look forward to many more good titles.

Both DVD Beaver and DVD Savant have reviews up for Olive Films' DVD release of Such Good Friends.

Finally, TWILIGHT'S LAST GLEAMING and FEDORA!

The Widerberg films are also welcome, although I already have the Swedish release of MAN ON THE ROOF.

Well, I was really hoping for more 1950s Paramounts.  I hope there is still some possibility of getting those.

The Man on the Roof (1976), Casablanca (1983), Fedora (1978) and Twilight's Last Gleaming (1977) all sound good. Couldn't find Dead Pigeon on Beethoven Street on the IMDb though.

Ingmar Bergman's FACE TO FACE on DVD (August 30) $29.95887090024402.jpg

That is stunning DVD artwork. Reminds me of the movie poster artwork for The Mothman Prophecies and Eyes of the Mothman. Face to Face (1976) sounds like another good film.

It's not a feature. It's an episode of a German police series called Tatort.

When I looked at Samuel Fuller's IMDb filmography as a director I did see Tatort, but never considered that it Dead at Beethoven Street was the name of an episode of a TV show. Thanks for clarifying my query.

Interested in Tatort as well.
