TV/Large LCD Monitor Question

Ok so i want to get something for my bedroom to use while surfing the net and playing PS3 from my bed. The viewing distance is about ten feet, maybe a little less. I dont really NEED TV tuner capability but it would be nice. Would I be better off with a large monitor or a TV? and what size would be the best for this distance. I was thinking 26" but I dont want it to be too small. any suggestions? Thanks. PS the computer would be hooked up from DVI-HDMI, and the PS3 would be HDMI.

26 inch is much much too small for viewing from 10 feet.  In fact I wouldn't use a 26 inch for any gaming.  I'd go with a 40-42 inch; but certainly at least 32.

On the other hand I've never surfed on large monitor, so I can't say what happens when you go larger there.

I measured my viewing distance and its more like 7 or 8 feet. Right now I have a 19" widescreen monitor and I can read text from my viewing distance just fine when I change the DPI settings on my computer. I can also play PC games just fine. Am I measuring my viewing distance wrong? Its just that a 32" TV seems HUGE for the size of my bedroom. Thank you.

I won't discount personal preference, but I don't think a 32 inch screen is too large at all.  Since you modified the distance from 10 to 7-8 feet, I wouldn't go larger than 37 in.  My son is using an old 26" 3:2 TV (for gaming with an X360) from about 7 feet away and we both agree it's too small.

Thank you very much. I think ive decided on a 32" Vizio.

I think that's a good choice.  I've often seen these at Costco for less than $300.  You won't need a lot of bells and whistles for gaming, so don't pay through the nose.

I really appreciate your help. I found a 32inch for 279.34 refurbished. http://www.recoupit.com/Televisions/32-inch/Vizio/Vizio-VO320E-32-LCD-HDTV-p8046871.html any thoughts on the retailer?
