Today is Hans Ruedi's 70th birthday!  You can read about it at http://www.hrgiger.com (probably NSFW!)

HR modified his original artwork to become the monster in Alien and also designed Sil in 'Species' among many other accomplishments.

Hmmm, I must have him confused with another artist. I thought he was the one that did the 4-dimensional drawings, like the impossible staircases, but looking at those links above I don't see any work like that.
