Are you talking about the volume knob on the receiver or the sub's level knob on the amp?  How is it connected to your receiver?

could also possibly be what you have your sub set as....as hz goes.

hi Robert_J
its the vol.level knob on the active sub itself, when you start to turn it from its lowliest position it just goes to full volume.I took it to a TV repair shop where we live and all he could say was he was sure it wasn't the control knob that was at fault i think he couldn't be bothered to check the circuit board..We are short of good Hi- Fi repair shops where i live in Barnsley South Yorkshire England. it as been fine for the last 2 years .It is connected to my Yamaha amp via audio cable.two audio inputs on back of the sub to one input on back of amp

It could be the pre-amp board or even the control knob.  Since you are short of good repair shops in your area, are there any capable ones in England?  What does Mission have to say about this situation?  I've never dealt with them but most of the big companies have decent customer support.

You should also start calculating your max price for getting this issue corrected vs buying a new sub.  It sounds like you will be shipping it for repair which will add to the costs.  It may be cheaper to remove the amp and just ship it if the repair company has a sub to test with.
