Very glad to hear about this but what took so long!!  This is the type of release that could have driven BR player and disk sales right from the start. Should have happened a long time ago.

You can purchase both of these titles on Amazon for a special
price of $39.98

That is for both.

Click on one of the Amazon links above and look for the special

It's sort of the chicken and the egg syndrome but Disney doesn't really care about selling Blu-ray players. The longer they wait to release these movies, the more players that are already in homes and the more copies they sell.

Sweet mother of Abraham Lincoln!

I never tire of hearing this news!

I suppose that's true but sometimes it amazes me that they can't see the big picture.

Anyway...

Me, too.  I just can't see myself retiring my Ultimate Toy Box. THAT was the set that got me seriously into DVD in the first place.

As good as I know these Blu-ray discs will be (Pixar has yet to let us down)...I've got a strong affection for that UTB.

A quote from the wonderful Toy Story 2, of course.  Did you know that it was put in as a reference to the fact that Tom Hanks is actually a relative of Lincoln's mother, Nancy Hanks?

I really want these discs, but I'm trying to resist buying them, since I'm sure that they're just a stop-gap release to tie in to the theatrical release of the new film.  A revamped Blu version of The Ultimate Toy Box with all three films and all the supplements will surely come out for Christmas.

Never say never but I'd be pretty surprised if the inevitable set was anything more than these discs and the TS3 disc in a box.

Glad to see we got some new bonus features but I really really enjoy those Cine-explore PiP tracks on the other Disney releases like Sleeping Beauty and Pinnochio and Cars. Wish there was one on each of the Toy Story films.

Done. That's a great deal. Thanks for the head's up, Ron.

I sold my Ultimate Toy Box copy once these were announced. While we have received a lot of enjoyment from watching the UTB, I cannot see any reason to keep it on the shelf anymore.

I'm gonna wait for the Inevitable Toy Box for BD. We all know it's gonna happen.
There would be no reason for all the original features not to be carried over to the BD versions.

The only thing from the previous releases that I don't expect to see is the sounds effect-only soundtrack option (which wasn't on the DVD re-release from a few years ago either).
I could see them dropping the short films, since they have the Vol. 1 Pixars Shorts BD already out.
I imagine there might be 3-D versions down the line of all 3 at some point.

I know I've made a habit out of posting this link in other Toy Story-related threads (so please forgive me if you've seen it elsewhere)...but HERE is just one of the reasons these films mean so much to me.

Just in case there's someone out there who might be interested in the story...

I did not know that story, Mike. That's so sweet.
Thanks for sharing it.

Thanks, Reagan.  The first time a movie ever moved me to an actual tear in the theater...and it's gotta be an animated PIXAR film!

Crazy world we live in.  But it's a tip of the hat to the creative people at PIXAR.  I know I'm not the only person who was impacted by that montage and Sarah MacLachlan's ethereal performance of Randy Newman's song.  I've heard from many others.

I'm with you, these blu's will have to sit beside the UTB on my shelf.  Few sets match what that UTB did, heck, it's gorgeous just to look at!

Keep checking your amazon gold box, I had one of these in there and was given an extra $1.25 off.

I have a feeling that before or at release these will be around $30 or less for both.
I keep adding this combo to my cart yet it keeps adding them into the cart @ $24.99 each. ???
I've purchased a couple of these Disney/Pixar two-fer deals from amazon, David (Monster's Inc & Up being one of them).

The $10 discount comes at checkout.  You've got to actually pull the trigger to see the savings.

Any further discounts of the prices of the two titles made before release day will still be deducted from your order (without impact on the $10 discount).
Thanks Mike.  That makes sense.  Haven't pulled the trigger cause there is a ton of other pre-release stuff in my cart I'm just kind of thinking about.

Great to have on BD though.  Have the UTB and wondering should I keep it?  Typically I would get rid of it, but those discs really did have great special features.  One of the few worthy of "special".  Wondering if they will port all that over.

Hands down Pixar's best films, can't wait to own these on Blu.
