Projectors????????

Thread Starter
I have a 2 thousand dollar budget, anyone have any suggestions on which projector to purchase?
There are hundreds that meet your budget requirements but what are your other requirements?  Screen size?  Lumens (more if you don't have total light control)?  Throw distance?  LCD or DLP?  Special input requirements?

Your question is like going to Edmunds.com and asking for car suggestions under $40,000 and giving no other information.  People will just suggest what they have without digging any deeper.  If you don't want to answer the questions there is a very lightly used Panasonic in the For Sale section.  I have enjoyed my Panasonic projector for years.

Do you want to ceiling mount it or put it on a shelf? If a shelf, you'll need the lens shift of an LCD.

what is better with a dark dedicated theatre room 14x15 optoma hd 20 or a

Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 8350 Home Theater Projector?
for ps3 xbox 360 and tv and movies?

The 8350 is a better projector. BUT I recommend the new Mits. HC4000 over both of those. But you can't put it on a shelf, upright. If you want to put it on a shelf, upright, buy the 8350. Since you didn't provide any other info, you'll have to make sure whatever you buy will work with your throw distance and desired screen size.

106 inch fashion grey laminate for the screen. I really dont know how far away

8350 or hd20, alot of difference in the price. Bang for your buck? hd20 hard to beat. If you have other things to finance in the project besides projector, if you bought the hd 20 you will love the picture, and you could use the difference in price for other equipment. A grey screen is definitely the way to go, to enhance your blacks.

anyone notice Projectorpeople's sale of the BenQ W6000?  $1499 (amazon has it for $1899) and still sells from many places at well over $2K !!

Bang for buck?  This one is for SURE in the running!

is the hd20 noisy?

It's said to be noisy only when the bulb is set to high brightness.

i don't think its noisy, but i haven't listened to alot of different projectors run. Come on, i mean most of the time the volume is up, how would you hear it any how? but is it excessively noisey? definitely not!!

well i had the optoma hd20 and i was very unimpressed with its proformance. I had everything set up and it just didn't have the options i need it has no bells and whistles. you really can't move the screen size much it really sucks in my opinion. I tried 4 projectors after that and my final choice was a epson 8350 which is the best projector for 1200 bucks... wow it has an awsome picture and the bells and whistles are amazing! I love it there is really nothing i can can't do with it it gives tyou SOOOOOOO many options it's sick i can honestly say with the Wilson's Art DW laminate as a screen it easly smokes the picture of my samsung 67inch LED by FAR!! i called some of my buddys over that r guru's about picture and they said the same! I have a dedicated theatre room in my basement so light is no prob. Ill post some pics soon than ks for all of your help

your choice and your money and i'm glad your pleased. But, bells and whistles wise i'm sure there are alot better options. But i have never seen any negative review on the performance of the hd20, by consumer or professional reviewer! Good luck and have fun!
