Straight answer to both: read the fine print in the press release re: question 1:

So it'll be just like any other Disney combo pack: BD disc 1, DVD disc 2 and Digital Copy disc 3.

As for the A/R, IMDb reports an A/R of 1.85:1, which is consistent with trailers for the film and Disney's CAPS system for rendering hand-drawn animation, which has a native A/R of 1.66:1. 1.78:1 will simply open up the top and bottom oh so slightly, meaning that the reference to 2.35:1 is a typo.

I see that, Stephen, but the information is directly contradicted by the pricing info above it:

Blu-ray.com suggests there will be a BD and the BD Combo Pack.  Ultimate Disney seems to say the same thing.  I'm going with their interpretation until Disney clarifies.  Thanks though!

This is a pretty confusing press release

One part says this

That's new for Disney, they don't usually do a combo and BD only release.  It will be interesting to see how this is discounted by Amazon with the two versions.

There is no difference in the special features on the BD only and the combo pack.  The yellow border doesn't bother me as I'll only see the spine.

I'm certai that's true, but I like the slip covers.
It won't stop me from buying that version if it's cheaper or only a tiny bit more, but if the only difference is the extra dvd and digi copy I'll get blu-ray only.
If the yellow border version has additional features that are good features I'll buy that.

Thats what I thought at first, but The lettering is gold and the border looks yellow in comparison.  Either way I have 4yo so I know I'll be needing the DVD too.

They did for WALL*E, though not for Up. Maybe after seeing the reaction on each they decided to go forward with BD-only options on new releases (and keep combo-only on catalog titles)?

Is it just me or isn't this the first non cgi movie from Disney for like ever personally I wondered what happened to all those cartoonist and did they get replaced by a bunch of computer geeks?

I think the comments about making profits are very valid apparently many films struggle to break even at the box office as not all are blockbusters and some spend huge amounts and flop totally.

The overwhelming majority of people who used who to do traditional animation just learned how to do the same basic work on the computer.
