Greetings all,

I will be purchasing the Klipsch Quintets , Klipsch 8inch sub, and a 5.1 Denon reciever for my 25 X 20 room.

Im sorry I dont have the exact specs and links but my friend is purchasing them from his retail store for me at a discount. Yes, they are brand new in box.

This is my first system and would like your input. Any constructive criticism is appreciated. I only have about 700 to spend. He gurantees the total will be less than 700.

Hello
you could not have made a better choice. I have klipsch speakers and a klipsch subwoofer on my pc and when i play music when my friends come over. They are blowen away at the sound and clearly. I would put them on my home theater but my buget is funny. So i got the polks for temporary. I would say you got a deal!!!! enjoy

An 8" sub in a room that large?  My room is slightly smaller and I use dual 15" subs.

Thank you for the input

For more specs, its the newest Fourth Generation Quintets. A new 8" sub that surpasses the old Klipsch 8" and I have the choice of upgrading to a 7.1 Denon receiver for only $70 more (I will do).

I could have paid and received all the equipment yesterday but I would not have gotten the full discount.

The non-discounted price was $1450. His discount dropped it to $950. If I were to wait until mid February It will drop to $750 (I also will do).

Wow, that must rock the house. Yes my room (basement) is pretty large but there is a ton of stuff down here to enclose the sound I think ( just trying to make an excuse to make myself feel better). It also is the newest 8" sub so that might help a bit more. For the price (for now) do you think it will give me a nice little rumble?

I had a Denon AVR-886 (130W / channel) and the quintets with a Klipsch Sub-12.  It was great for the money.  I was always surprised by the clarity of those little speakers.  Watch out how far you push them though, I burned out the woofer on the L and R channels.

You're going to frown with the output from that 8" sub.  Skip buying the sub for now and save up for something bigger.

I upgraded my speakers to Polk LSi's all round with a Sunfire Signature Seven but I've kept the sub for now because it's actually not that bad.

I would suggest looking at the receiver that you're buying to see if it has Pre-Out's.  That way if you want to run a separate amp down the road, like I've done, you won't have to spring for a pre processor at the same time.

I think I would wait on the sub purchase, until you can get a bit more bang.  I feel like you will be underwhelmed with the 8".

It literally can 'rock the house'.  At medium volume, you can feel an action movie through the concrete foundation on the other side of the house.

You need walls to enclose the sound.  Anything else and you are just trying to make yourself feel better.  Yes, the 8" will give you a rumble.  But I wanted something that would accurately reproduce the destruction of a Terminator Hunter/Killer at reference volume.  Your goals may be different.  Basements are great for IB subs.  There's a full build thread here from last year where I helped a guy with his sub.  He was more than happy.  I've recently helped a guy in the Speakers and Subs section.
