It must have been a typo. Either in one of The Digital Bits' links (replacing Bits by Forum), or else on your own PC.

Currently, this looks like a non-issue to me, The Digital Bits are alive and kicking, Bill is on Jury Duty, it seems, and I'll close this thread.
(When there would appear any reason to, it will be reopened for further discussion.)

Thanks for  caring about The Bits!

I have been notified (thanks, Glenn!  ) that The Bits aren't accessible indeed at the moment. No redirect to that place in the first post above, but a "not found" error.

So ... this seems to be a thread to keep open now again, at least for a while, so people can discuss their worries and finds here.

Hmmm.  I can't connect either.  I called Bill to make sure he was aware and he confirmed that they are having a server issue and they are working on it.  Cees I wonder if its intermittent and you caught it when it was up?

Adam,

Yes, I thinks so now. However, I still haven't found an explanation (other than a simple error) for the (pseudo-?) redirect as reported in post #1.

Unless the company doing his hosting is having problems with their internal DNS (assuming he is using shared hosting).

The site is up but when you select the link that has 125 pictures from CES you get:

The requested URL /articles/ces2010/gallery01.html was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

It looks like the bits is having server issues again.

Address Not Found Firefox can't find the server at www.thedigitalbits.com. The browser could not find the host server for the provided address.

On another note I am sorry about the above blank post. I was using the Opera browser and for some reason the reply box for this forum doesn't appear.

I can't get to it at the moment either.

But I *can* confirm that it was up as of late yesterday (3/8) ...

At first the reply-box was not writable - refresh and it is there! Huddler fix the error!!

About 15 minutes ago, I tried  "http://www.thedigitalbits.com/" and got a page stating the site is under contraction.

I then tried  "http://www.thedigitalbits.com/#mytwocents" and got the expected page

I then tried again "http://www.thedigitalbits.com/"   and got the normal home page.

I have not been able to access the bits for over a week. All I get are error messages.
I've had no problems for weeks.
I check it every day, (and just did again), and it comes up fine for me.

I keep getting the following message:

Address Not Found
Firefox can't find the server at www.thedigitalbits.com.
This sounds suspiciously like DNS issues which generally are ISP dependent. Use Google's or OpenDNS's DNS servers and your troubles mostly go away.

Uptime for websites are generally around 99% uptime, as any webhost provider will tell you. happens to my website, from time to time, as well.

I rebooted my entire computer and it still didn't help. The bits' homepage is displayed but when you click on a link nothing happens i.e server can't be found.

It comes up fine. Your problem is local.

the bits worked fine for a couple of days[one could access it periodically] but seems not to be working again.
I had problems last night and it never did come up.  I am not sure this is all that local.

The bits were up yesterday morning but since then it has been down.

I haven't had a problem with The Digital Bits for weeks. It seems very likely there's a problem on your end.

My internet provider is net zero. I have tried using internet explorer or Firefox to browse the net and can't get the bits.
