Need advice on screen

I am trying to finalize choices for my screen. I want a curved screen that will handle 16x9 as well as 1:2:40 formats .my wall is 140" in width.I was originally going to put up curtains, but they would have eaten up 23" on each side, and would have limited my screen width to 90".I was going with Stewart's cinecurve model, but the side masking panels would bring down my screen to a mere 50"X 37.5" when viewing 16X9 format.NOT COOL!!  I think a better solution is to forget about curtains and go with a 16 X 9 screen that would be close to 140' in width, but one that can be masked VERTICALLY to make a 2:40 screen. Can anyone please help with thoughts ,ideas, criticisms, etc?

I went with a 103" DIY 16x9 screen that cost $75.  It works great for me since the majority of my viewing is high def material.  The occaisional 2.35:1 movie will give me black bars but I don't care.  Just like when I watched 16x9 content on my old 27" TV, I watch the action and ignore the rest.

If you go with an extra wide screen, are you going to go with an anamorphic lens as well?

I'm wondering if it is really worth the money for the whole deal, but I am really set on the curved screen idea.I am not sure if masking is necessary for 2.35:1 as i also don't mind the bars on my current TV, but I just don't know how they will look on my new bigger screen.I am planning on getting an anamorphic lens for the wide screen format.
thanks

Truthfully, I don't notice them.  I wanted a very good picture and AWESOME sound so that is what my priorities were.  With a limited budget, I went the DIY route every chance I could.  I'm sure a $750 screen will give me a better picture but 10 times better than my $75 screen - probably not.

It is all about YOUR goals.  If you compromise you will always wonder what it would look like.

you're right. I am more of a videophile than an audiophile, myself,so the picture has to be perfect.and yes, i would certainly be secondguessing if didn't go the whole 9 yrds with the screen.
