I've listened for quite a long time now about the rave for most expensive movie ever. The hype about Avatar has now turned to boxoffice records, as it always turns out, when a blockbuster comes along.
A forum I visit is overloaded with the rave about Avatar, and as always I have to chime in, that if they want the "ALL TIME" signature, then they have to adjust for inflation and Avatar has just about sold 1/3 the number of tickets that Gone With The Wind did.
Then starts the rave about most expensive movie ever and Avatar gets mentioned again because people want to include marketing costs to get it more expensive than it is. According to multiple sources the number is $230 mio.
But 40 years ago, the russians made a little movie called War & Peace, that took 7 years to make, did cost $100 mio (in todays money about $560-700) and had a cast of 120.000 people and lasted 6 hours.
And thats when I wonder, do we soon get to see this epic of epics in HD?
