HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (January 7, 2010) - Television's sharpest P.I. returns when BARNABY JONES arrives on DVD for the first time February 16 from CBS Home Entertainment and Paramount Home Entertainment.  The four-disc set features all 13 episodes from the inaugural season, which have been beautifully remastered.

Buddy Ebsen (The Beverly Hillbillies) stars as BARNABY JONES, the astute detective who comes out of retirement after his son's murder.  A different kind of sleuth, Barnaby Jones catches criminals with his intellect rather than his fists.  The series co-stars Lee Meriwether (All My Children) as Jones' daughter-in-law Betty, who garnered two Golden Globe® nominations and one Emmy® nomination for her performance.  With a seven-year run, it is the second longest running series from legendary TV producer Quinn Martin (The Fugitive).

BARNABY JONES: The First Season will be available for the suggested retail price of $42.99 US and $47.99 CAN.

That's the list price. It'll probably be $25 at amazon and deepdiscount. Seriously, if you think that's unreasonable then you need to find another hobby.

$25 would be more reasonable. Better yet $19.99. IMO $40 is WAY too much for just 13 Episodes. If it were 22-26 Episodes I could understand $40, but for 13 Episodes?

It is the length of about 26 regular sitcom episodes, which would make a full season of a sitcom.

I mean, Taxi: The Final Season came out last month, 39.98 MSRP, and it was only 571 minutes.

At least CBS/Paramount is consistent. They seem to only want to give out a certain amount of material for a certain price, hence the split seasons on the older hour long dramas.

As for Barnaby Jones S1... I'll be buying next month.

Since this is only half a season, wait till season 2 to see whether or not it'll be split or or not. Then I'll decide whether or not I'll pick em up
