"I am very interested to see what Russell's explanation is to JT about why he didn't use the idol."

I would think that Russell will say he did play the idol.  All he has to say is "I got 3 votes and Cortney got 2 votes and my 1 vote for Parv didn't do any good...I'm so glad I played the idol and saved myself."  That way, the hero's think their plan worked and Russell is obligated to them, not to mention the fact that they will not know that he still has the idol.

But you'll have Sandra telling a much different tale.

"But you'll have Sandra telling a much different tale."

True...but it comes down to who you believe...Sandra is also on the Villains team, and could be part of the female alliance trying to lie to the hero's to get something.,..

Keep in mind, these folks went over there before seeing Russell in action.  They think he is some duffus who doesn’t know what he is doing…Next week should be good...

Plus, if there is an all-woman alliance, why are they casting votes for Courtney?

But you what?  The Heroes are so dumb Russell will be able to convince them of anything.  I bet they vote off Sandra first.  Just to be extra stupid.

"Plus, if there is an all-woman alliance, why are they casting votes for Courtney?"

Russell could play dumb..."Parv is in charge and must have figured something out by the way I was acting that I may have found our idol.  I couldn't help myself - I guess I should have acted more down and out.  She got to control who went home, as she probably though I would vote for her..."

The hero's already see Parv as the most dangerous and in charge,  as they wanted Russell to vote her out....and even if Russell doesn't know that they have their idol, he gets the hero's to believe that they havent...

Russell could convince Rupert to take a long walk off a short pier.

Was SURVIVOR Heroes vs. Villains on this week?  My Tivo
failed to record it.

Thank goodness I didn't read any results here.

I have to agree that it looks like Russell was in on the vote for Coach.  I did not make sense to me that if it was a all girl alliance, why they didn't vote off Russell.  So...it would make sense that he knew but didn't want to look bad in Coach's eyes.

JT is an idiot.  If I were on the show I would never give up the idol, especially to the "evil" villians tribe.  I liked his original idea to keep it for use by any of the heroes to stay alive in the game if when they merged.

When the immunity challenge began, I was really hoping that the villians would find some way to win the challenge.  I did not want to see JT have an excuse to give up the idol.  I don't think Russell threw the challenge.  The Villians were far enough behind that he didn't have to.  He could have gone faster, but he was not the reason they lost.

I'm surprised that there was not much talk about Parvarati finding an idol and not sharing her find with Russell.

Does anyone else think that Candace is playing like Jeri?  They both play an "emotional" game, that is they let their emotions rule what they do in the game.

If the heroes keep playing like they are, they will indeed vote out Sandra next and then probably turn on each other.  How sad.
Amanda's voice saying to keep the idol has no weight. Any protecting of the girls alliance just makes it clear she's actually planning to switch to that alliance at the merge. Think about it from JT's POV. A very likely girls alliance. Two girls on your team, either of which could easily be flipped. That's a disastrous consequence of not acting, and so even if there's a slight chance of it happening you would want to avoid it at all costs, giving up an idol to prevent that outcome is cheap. The upside is that you also have the numbers after the merge, your two girls are less likely to flip if you are already the majority. I think it was a bold move. Sadly their assumption of a girls alliance, though understandable, was completely wrong. Russel can say anything to explain not voting as instructed. He couldn't stand Courtney, she was always out for him, and he just wanted to see her gone. He didn't think it really mattered which girl went home, hey let's vote Parvati tonight. Hook, line and sinker.

Hmm I don't know why my posting lost all sign of paragraphs. I even edited it and added double spacing. When I edit, all the paragraphs show! Weird.

I can't resist.  Here is an excerpt from Dalton Ross's blog on ew.com:

Quote:

Watching J.T. write his little love letter to Russell to include with the idol was like watching a horror movie, causing me to scream at the TV screen, ''No! Put the writing utensil down! Don't you understand? He's gonna take that immunity idol and stab you with it until you're dead. And then he's gonna do the happy troll dance on top of your body, repeating his first and last names ad nauseam!'' Unfortunately, due to time constraints, we did not see the entire contents of J.T.'s letter, but here — in an EW.com exclusive! — it is in all its unedited glory:

Russell,
This is a huge turning point in this game. Huge because I am about to make a complete ass of myself on national television. This is not fake. I wouldn't waste your time or mine, because lord knows we're sooooooo busy out here doing absolutely nothing 23 hours a day. Just by competing against you and in the few handshakes that we've had I feel like I can trust you. The same way my alliance here could trust me to change my vote every three days according to my game of eeny, meeny, miny, moe. Play the idol tonight and save yourself. All the girls should be writing your name down so act like you know you are going home. Kind of like the way you have convinced me into writing this idiotic letter. Basically, try to make sure they are as dumb as me and Rupert. I think you should write Parvati's name down and send her home. We will most likely merge at 10 people and you will be completely safe with us. Because why wouldn't you want to be the sixth person in a six-person alliance as opposed to a key member of a five-person pact? That makes all the mathematical sense in the world, right? Our five plus you will remain strong until the girls are done with. We can then work on getting ourselves to the final 3, and when I say ''ourselves'', I mean me, Amanda, and Rupert. But mostly me. This is your chance to prove you're not a
Survivor villain. And my chance to prove I am a genuine jackass. Please destroy after reading so no further evidence of my idiocy exists.

Love,
J.T.

P.S. If possible, could you make sure to have Parvati read this aloud on the beach so that I may be publicly mocked to an even greater degree? That would be swell.

But the fact that he didn't vote Parvati is not what's going to out him as not being the swing vote after the merge.  It's that Sandra IS the swing vote and will likely be the one to tell the Heroes that Russell is in command and allied with Parv.  From there, it's just a short step for the Heroes to figure out that the HII wasn't played, although any assumption on my part about the Heroes being smart enough to figure out anything is a gamble.

It was a pretty rational assumption to make (even if it didn't pan out), when man after man was getting voted off a tribe that kept losing challenges, instead of women who didn't perform as well in those challenges.

Where did JT get the pen and paper to write his note?
They had one that in a previous reward challenge. (the pen/paper) along with some other items.
Was gone all weekend so I didn't get to watch the episode til last night. One thing that really stuck out at me was how convenient it was that they all decided to hug after the immunity challenge so JT could slip Russell the idol. In all the years of watching this show I don't think I've ever seen the two teams embracing after a challenge. Does it happen all the time and they just don't show it or is the show a little more scripted than we're led to believe?
That was one entertaining hour of television! Loaded with laughs and trickery at every turn. JT proved to be the dumbest guy out there...should have been a laugh track under some of his comments tonight!

It really is frustrating to watch the lack of strategery on the Heroes side.

I gotta say, I'm loving how Parv is schooling Russell, though.

Parvati rocked that tribal.
And does anyone else notice the awful sound mix over the closing credits...in which the spoken confessional audio of the voted-off player is WAY BELOW the closing music?

I could hardly hear JT tonight.  I had to turn everything WAY UP in order to be able to hear his comments.  Happens every week.
Russel may have woken up.. way too late to realize he let him self get completely whipped by the hot-girl, all being googley-eyed over looks.
Parvati was definitely a couple steps ahead of everybody.
Wow!! what a move by Parvati.  If anything came out of this tribal, it would be that Jeri is definitely not going to switch sides now.  Sandra will do what it takes to stay in the game, but Jeri is cemented in with Parvati till she is voted out.

I agree with Patrick Sun with how frustrating it is to watch the lack of strategy by the heroes.  I guess when you have JT going with his "gut" and Rupert being the "voice of reason", it's easy to see why the heroes are going to lose for a while.  I probably wouldn't have listened to Rupert either if I was in the game.

I think Russell is trying to play the game in a way this season that helps him get jury votes.  He learned his lesson from last season that playing the perfect strategic game (with the luck of finding a lot of hidden idols), does not get you the title of sole survivor.  Right now it appears that Parvati is in the driver seat, but I think with some work Russell can make it to the finals and make up for his lose last year.

Yes, It's just terrible. It's been like that all year. I wonder what has changed. In past seasons, it was fine.

I just can't imagine what they're thinking.  It seems so obvious and so bad.  Whenever you are mixing spoken voice and music, the most basic rule-of-thumb is to keep the music under the voice so that there is no problem understanding the spoken word.

I've been reminded a couple of times this season, Jon...that Russell didn't know he had lost Survivor: Samoa when this season was played.  The finale of Samoa aired after the taping of this season.  It's hard sometimes to keep that perspective, though.

Amanda is so worthless sometiems.  With those puppy dog eyes and nothing behind them.  When she was saying "you should really play it" and then said it over and over it was so obvious.  I was halfway hoping Amanda left that conversation and said something like "I layed it on pretty thick, she has to assume that we are not going to vote for her now, and we can actually blindside her".
Where's the screen caps of Parvati on the pole?

Although this season is really great, one of the best in fact, I do miss seeing the struggle for survival.  The search for food, the fishing, etc. This season has been 100% game.

I really was hoping for a reverse-reverse psychology trick to work on Parvati so that the 5 "heroes" voted for Parvati after she gave away not one, but two HIIs, how stupid would she have looked?  Hah!  That would have been so, so, sweet.  But, alas, Amanda is still 2 steps behind Parvati.

You know, if I didn't know better I would say this show
is scripted.

Sometimes I just can't believe what I am watching.

Unbelievable episode tonight.  Thought Parvati would
play the idol then do it again next week.  But, she gave
it away and in doing so J.T. goes home.

Brilliant.

The only big problem now is that everyone is on
to Russell and his lie.  I don't think he will be around
much longer -- but then again, nothing surprises me anymore.

That tribal council goes into the pantheon of classic tribal councils -- did anyone even consider the possibility of Parvati using both Idols?  I mean, that was an amazing maneuver, made possible because Parv dropped out of the immunity challenge.  If Danielle didn't have the immunity necklace, this would not have been possible.

You can't blame the Heroes too much for the outcome -- they actually had a smart strategy in place, it's just that Parv blew it up the playing field.  But yes, watching JT act so smugly about Russell's trustworthiness made his ouster that much more deserved.  His malapropisms made seem even dumber.

But the smartest play so far has been from Sandra -- if you wondered why Courtney got the boot over her, it's because Sandra did a more convincing job that she was on board with the Villains.  Had she simply jumped in with the Heroes when they merged, she would have been a target.  So she filled in Rupert on the down low and then continued to act like she was in the Russell/Parv alliance.  Even with the Heroes one down, Sandra swinging next week will tip the scales to the other side.  Lying in wait and attacking when the moment is right -- that's Sandra in a nutshell.

I would like to play poker with Amanda.  And I don't even know how, but I suspect she would be an easy mark.  She basically told Parvati that they weren't voting for her.

Oh, and I didn't get the screencap yet, but I was howling when Danielle french kissed her pole in the immunity challenge.  Her breasts were especially deformed looking tonight -- she had a Bombshell McGhee thing going on.  My wife thought it looked like she glued her boobs together.
