Whew, this is gonna be lots of fun!
I'm incredibly looking forward to this...and as I said in the Samoa thread, I'll of course be back soon to provide my full commentary on the cast (which I have mixed feelings on).

Be warned though; if you're seeking out any additional info, the entire boot list has been spoiled, including the probable winner.

I go out of my way to avoid such spoilers on boot lists/finals, I don't understand why people just gotta know, it's the frikkin' journey that makes this show interesting.

I like seeing the cast list, but hope no one post the finals/boot list here!

Agree 100%!

I'm terrified of that happening, in fact I may unsubscribe from this thread because I get emails from this thread and the season 19 thread and I don't always look at which one I'm opening.

I fear I may inadvertently read something I don't want to read.

Guys don't worry about the boot list on this site. Everyone does such a good job of putting tags on everything that this is the only place I trust to go without being spoiled.

Glad to see all the enthusiasm for the new season. Season 19 started out really slow and I don't remember even starting the thread until a couple of days before the show started.

What's a boot list, and how could the winner be known in advance when the votes aren't counted til the live finale?
A "boot list" is a listing of the contestants in the order they got "booted" off the show.

Obviously, no one (except for a select handful) can be certain of the winner yet out of the group of finalists.

Russell and Coach on the same tribe?

Oh man. This is going to be good.
I think since these were filmed back to back that none of the other "survivors" will know who Russell is.  This happend with Amanda and James a couple years ago.

If you're on an All-Star type of Survivor season, and don't know who the newer folks are, you'd be dumb not to assume these newbies have some game of their own, and it wouldn't be in your best interest to underestimate them.

Question - Why is Rupert and Cirie considered Heroes.

Rupert - Stole eveyone's shoes the other teams shoes the first time he was on the show.

Cirie - Helped cause many of the blind sides that happened in her tribe on her second visit. The fist time she played I don't remember people liking her much because they felt like she was lazy.

From the People's Choice Awards.  Jeff Probst introduced a segment on the upcoming season:

It DOES look like it's going to be fun.  "Heroes and Villains" is unnecessary, but it'll be fun to see this cast interact.

I don't have any actual info. on this, but The Futon Critic currently says it's February 4.

The sites I find seem to indicate February 11.

Here's one.

And another.

The second link you provided has this comment, "A Special Survivor airing on Thursday, February 4, 2010" just below the 8:00pm PT/ET only on CBS line.  That's probably why The Futon Critic has 2/4 as the start date.  It doesn't say what this "special airing" is, but I don't want to miss it so I'll set my DVR just in case.

Well, I wouldn't want to miss it either, Michelle!  I'll be sure to check it out too.  Thanks!

Tonight in the usual Thursday CBS 8 p.m. timeslot (EST) is a "Look back" at the previous 19 seasons of Survivor, aptly named "Surviving Survivor.

I recorded "Surviving Survivor" not really certain I was
going to watch it.

Well tonight I did.

Very interesting show.  A real primer for someone
like myself that has only recently gotten into Survivor.
Learned much about the past 10 years and some of
the more notable contestants.  Certainly gave me some
insight into the personalities that will be vying against
each other starting this upcoming week.

The only concerns I have is that I hope this all-stars
season remains "real."  By that I mean it isn't like
we are starting off on an island with people who don't
know each other.   The last thing I want to see are
Survivors with a celebrity mentality hamming it up
for the camera.

Looking forward to the premier.

Well, you can count on that Ron.  Some of these guys have some super-sized egos.

But it still should be one rockin' good time!

I'm a little worried that CBS--in its promos--is already beating us over the head over-and-over-and-over-again with Russell's bravado that he is the best player of all time.  I'm hoping this doesn't turn into Survivor: Russell II.

I agree. The same thing could have been a problem when they did All-Stars a few years back, but I still enjoyed that season and I think this time around might be even better.

Two hour premier tonight!  Let the dragon slaying begin.

I had no idea they were going with a TWO-hour premiere!  THAT is awesome!

I have always thought a two-hour premiere really helps to establish the cast of characters so much better.  Even though long-time viewers already "knows" something about this group, it'll be nice to have extra time to watch them start to interact.  And, of course, there are newbies to the show (like Ron) who won't know some of the cast of earlier seasons.  So, it's all good.
I actually crammed like I was preparing for a final exam for this season, over the past month I watched all of the relevant seasons, the one's that are on DVD anyway, so that I would know these people lol.

Russell and Coach I already knew but many of them I didn't because they were from earlier seasons.

I'm primed and set, bring it on!

I'm assuming, John, that you are familiar with HTF-Survivor favorite--Amanda?
