Hey guys, i was getting the S9100 from Onkyo but the company i ordered it from came up with some BS excuse why they cant send it out so now im pretty much screwed because other stores are too expensive and nobody around me even has them so im pretty screwed on the whole S9100

what other good systems are there that you can recommend that are 7.1, professional ones i mean with wooden speakers, not the crappy plastic ones? Please help me, because after work im going to look around at a few stores, so i wanted to check a few out, but what is considered a good brand?

I called a place and he told Pioneer....Denon....Yamaha....but i dont know much about systems, so i dont know which one is good and which one isnt

my budget for a complete 7.1 home theater system is about $800

How about the Onkyo 607 receiver and the Onkyo SKS-HT750 speaker system? The fronts in this system aren't floorstanders, but the newer version of this speaker system, the SKS-HT870 (which DOES have tower fronts) isn't available yet at Amazon, but may be available somewhere else.

In all honesty, $800 for a complete 7.1 setup that ISN'T a HTiB is probably unrealistic without some serious performance compromises.  The Onkyo 607 is about the cheapest 7.1 receiver out there that has HDMI repeater capability (you could step down to the 507, but that's only 5.1).  At roughly $350 for the receiver, that leaves you $450 for a 7.1 speaker setup.

I don't think that's enough for 5.1 let alone a 7.1 system.

Hopefully some others can chime in with other options and prove me wrong.

Here are some of the best 7.1 receivers:

Denon AVR5308
Integra DTR-9.9
Onkyo TX-NR5007
Yamaha RX-Z7

Going the used route is probably the best way for you to get a full 7.1 system for your budget, but it also makes it very difficult for anyone here to make a recommendation since we don't have any clue what sort of deals you're likely to find in your area.
