Scorpion Releasing (new company that offers rare/obscure/campy flicks) - Page 3

Picked up an early copy of Point of Terror. I'm doing a lot of blind-buying lately, mostly doing my part to support the small labels so they can continue to give us the cult stuff. I thought the film was some kind of horror flick but it looks to be more of a psychological thriller, or a drama maybe, involving some dude's singing career and what he's willing to do to make it big. These movies really are products of their time - what silly outfits! Looking forward to Girls On the Road, even though, based on reviews, it's not really a road movie.

Are Fools and Who? available to pre-order on Amazon.com yet?

Thanks.

The front cover artwork for Fools is now up on Amazon.com. Scorpion Releasing have updated their website showing a page for Fools. At the moment though there is no information other than the film's synopsis. There's not even anything about the master Scorpion Releasing are using for this release. I was hoping there might be interviews with Katherine Ross and David Hylands.

On the Girls on the Road DVD there were trailers for I Don't Want to be Born and Nothing But the Night. Any word on a release date for these two films?

And there's still no pre-order page on Amazon.com for the Elliot Gould film Who?, despite there already being a page on Scorpion Releasing's website for the film (and a list of DVD extras).

NOTHING BUT THE NIGHT is tentaviely set for next Spring, either March or April. Still waiting for a reply from them concerning the release date of THE DEVIL WITHIN HER.

UPDATE: Just heard back from Scorpion, and they said, since both flicks are directed by the same director, they will be putting it out the same time NOTHING BUT THE NIGHT is scheduled to come out. So, next Spring on both titles.

Nothing But the Night has Cushing in it, right?

Cushing AND Lee! Michael Gambon and Diana Dors are also in the film. And it was directed by Peter Sasdy, one of the best of the late Hammer directors, who also made:

THE STONE TAPE

HANDS OF THE RIPPER

TASTE THE BLOOD OF DRACULA

COUNTESS DRACULA

THE STONE TAPE. Wish that one would get a region 1 release. Have always wanted to see it.

But THE DEVIL WITHIN HER and NOTHING BUT THE NIGHT are far, far from Sasdy's best work--it's hard to get too, uh, "exorcised" over a movie with Joan Collins and an evil dwarf, but NIGHT is dispiriting for Cushing/Lee fans. Still thery're the kinds of films that need a patron.

Thank you for being so blunt.

Never mind. Thought I'd ask as I didn't know who held the rights to the film.

You've had better luck than me with contacting Scorpion Releasing.

Aside from those two Peter Sasdy films, are any new titles for next year any of the ones in the Coming Soon section on their website?

This has been out on a cheap budget label for years, but its full frame.  What I bought for about $5.00 years ago is now approaching nearly $70!

It would be if you asked Warner Bros. for it, since they own the movie.

On 2/22, they have scheduled QUEST FOR LOVE with Joan Collins, a documentary called BLACK RODEO, and Karen Arthur's acclaimed film LEGACY.

Thanks for the update Walter. So that's two titles on Scorpion Releasing's Coming Soon page being released early next year. Great stuff. thumbsup.gif

Are there any updates for the first of Scorpion Releasing's 2011 titles?

Have checked on Amazon.com and they have a pre-order listing page for Quest for Love and Black Rodeo, including front cover artwork. The release date for both titles is 22nd February. Can't find anything for Legacy though.

Only three weeks away the releases, but the frustrating thing is Scorpion Releasing haven't updated their website in ages.

I'm really hoping they release Sextette soon so I can toss out the old full frame disc.

Legacy is available to pre-order as well, also being released on 22nd February. There is front cover artwork up on Amazon.com, DeepDiscount and AxelMusic. Is there a reason why Black Rodeo and Legacy are priced higher than Quest for Love?

Also, on AxelMusic, among the titles from Scorpion Releasing available for purchase on there, is Super Spook.

Are there any details yet about DVD extras for Quest for Love, Black Rodeo and Legacy?

looks like there is no extras on QUEST FOR LOVE, however BLACK RODEO has a commentary with director Jeff Kanew, and LEGACY has two audio commentaries, (one with director Karen Arthur, one with star Joan Hotchkis) and 3 on camera interviews and a still gallery.

Disappointed with there being no extras on Quest for Love, and no interviews on the Black Rodeo disc. The Legacy DVD extras sound good. Hope there will be trailers for all three titles on their discs.

I searched for Super Spook on Amazon.com and found a listing for it. It says the distributor is Ryko Distribution. Are they the same as Scorpion Releasing? There was a trailer for Super Spook on I think the Who? disc. The release date for Super Spook on Amazon.com is 22nd November, 2010. But that is a Monday.

DVD Beaver has a review for Quest for Love and Legacy on their website. Really interesting reads.

No review yet for Black Rodeo. Has any DVD reviews website reviewed Super Spook, being as it was released last November?

Also, in the DVD Beaver review for Quest for Love it mentions in the trailers list on the disc, a film called Changes. Now I've checked on the IMDb and found a film from 1969 called Changes. It looks like it's this one, because "Cinerama" was mentioned further down the page. Say Hello to Yesterday had the Cinerama Releasing logo shown at the beginning of the film.

Is there a release date yet for Changes (1969) and are there any DVD extras?
