+1.  Great show, watching this one for the 1st time on DVD.  Still in S1 at present.  IMDB lookup: 9 seasons for this show?  I wonder if we'll see this one complete on DVD.

Probably not. The Blu Ray Association is being hard pressed against studios and retailers to push Blu Ray adoption. DVD's are slowly being sent back from retailers as they push more blu ray sales. There's a higher profit margin for studios.

What does that have to do with Matlock? Are you saying that they're planning on scrapping DVD releases of Matlock in favor of Blu-ray releases? If Matlock (or anything else) sells on DVD, it'll all come out on DVD. Blu-ray has nothing to do with it.

Because, at the rate that DVD sets are getting released, most aren't seeing a release at regular releases. Studios are taking an average of six months between releases. It's doubtful that all seasons would be released to DVD because, before that happens, you won't be able to find DVD's in any store.

Since Matlock was posted in video, there's no need for it to come out on Blu-ray unless they want to stick an entire season on a single Blu-ray disc. There will be no way to upgrade the image to 1080p without reposting the entire show.

That's the only thing that I regret about the show, that it was shot (or transferred soon after) on video and the DVD transfers aren't as good as shows that were made in the 50's-60's on 35mm.  But (imo) Matlock's such a good show that it's easier for me to live with the DVD print quality.

Everytime I see Matlock mentioned I always think of Abe Simpson shouting "Matlock!" and him and the other residents of Springfield Retirement Home being big fans of Matlock. Remember the episode where they were telling Mayor Quimby they wanted the Matlock Expressway? lol

Anyway, after the TV series Andy Griffith resumed his role in the same season of Diagnosis: Murder Mike Connors reprised his role from Mannix in. The story with Matlock was a two-parter from Diagnosis: Murder's fourth season, called "Murder Two".

Count me in for this one.  I'm glad Paramount is continuing to roll these out - and in complete season sets!  Matlock switches private eyes this season and I always preferred Conrad to Tyler.  Looking forward to March!

Now if only they would start putting out more Diagnosis Murder!!!

Personally, I'd rather see the rest of Matlock released before Diagnosis Murder. Matlock is a much better show. I love that sweet old man.

Does Matlock ever get discounted?

I've been interested in giving this one a try because I like Andy Griffith and have seen a few episodes in the past and I recall them being enjoyable. It has stayed on my list of possible purchases but I never seem to find much of a deal to sway me into purchasing yet. Usually $40 a season is above my normal threshold.

I saw a deal on a three season pack for just under $30 a season. Is this about the best I will find it for?

I have seen Matlock season 2 for around $15 used.   I enjoy the show but recently just been recording it from WGN on weekdays.
