Some weeks ago, I posted and error message and have just tried it and still get an error message

If I search for "Pelham". If I click on (now on the 2nd page) "

A few words about...™ The Taking of Pelham 123 -- in Blu-ray"

I get the error message:

There Seems to be a Problem

We're sorry, but there's been an error in our system, and we can't complete your request. Please report this error to us, using our feedback system. Thanks!

Message: Unable to load thread: 294626

  Has this error been forgotten?

The error is not the message itself but the fact that the search is returning a thread that apparently no longer exists.

So I quess the error is either how did the search find it OR where the (missing) thread

I don't know the specifics of the Huddler search engine, but most search engines use some sort of index. In this instance, I suspect the index hasn't properly updated to purge an outdated entry.

As for why the thread is missing, I have no idea. But I wouldn't assume it's a bug or an error.

Why would it be an "outdated entry" - how could one get an error remark without being an error. Until the reason for the message is found  one MUST assume an error. Why is the entry missing?

I didn't say there wasn't an error. I'm trying to help you narrow down where the error is.

The thread you're looking for no longer exists. The error is that the search engine thinks it does.

I disagree , you are making an assumption. There are 2 possibilities:

1) As you say The thread you're looking for no longer exists. The error is that the search engine thinks it does.

2) The entry was deleted and it should not have been deleted

The common element to both those possibilities is the non-existence of the thread. Since we are talking about a search error here, the focus is on the search engine returning a hit to something that doesn't exist. (BTW, this happens with Google all the time.)

Now, if you want to talk about the reason for the non-existence of the thread, that's a different issue. And no, I am not making an assumption, because I know from experience that threads may be removed from the board for any number of administrative reasons. This was the case long before the migration to Huddler, and it has nothing to do with the software platform. In this particular instance, I have been able to confirm that, indeed, this deletion was deliberate and not the result of a software glitch, but that is all the information I have.

Hey guys, sorry we haven't been very responsive on this one.

The bug is that threads aren't being removed from the search index when they are deleted.  It's assigned to me in our internal bug tracker with a relatively high priority -- so it hasn't been forgotten.

I have a few other tasks to knock out before I'll have a chance to resolve this one.
