I'm looking to pull the trigger on a new 5.1 setup atm. Right now a heve a very cheap 7.1 onkyo setup and im wanting way more impact on my movies. The setup would be for 80% TV 20% movies. I have read around and see that def tech may not be the best for music in there price range, but are quite good for HT. I'm wanting the large sweetspot sound in my living room as i can be sitting anywhere from the center on the room all the way to the back corner at my computer. I normally wouldnt consider def tech as i believe they are overpriced for what you get, but i have the ability to get the speakers at a great discount. So even if they are overpriced MSRP i feel i would be getting a good deal.
Right now the system im looking at would consist of the clr2002 center, 2 BP7002 towers, BP1X surrounds, and a SC1 sub. It seems like a solid system for HT and a huge upgrade from what i currently have. The question i have is since i can get a good price on the speakers if i where to spend more where should it be spent? I could either get the BP7001 towers and not get the SC1 since it seems the towers would have similar bass output as 2 SC1. Or i can keep the BP7002 and get the reference sub. The thing that bothers me is that im only getting the 2002 center and if i get the 7001 tower the midwoofers would be different sizes. I read the front three speakers should match so the bigger towers seems like a bad idea. Also another possiblity would be to step up the center channel to the 2500. It seems to me like the center channel sub thing is a bit much. But, considering most of the sound comes from the center channel, it seems like it could be a good upgrade. Im sure all these upgrades would be ideal, but which is most important for me to consider? I could use some opinions which way should i upgrade the system. TY
