Hi all,
First, apologies if this is in the wrong forum - wasn't sure where it belonged. Now on to business...
I recently moved into a new apartment with a good sized living room. I have a beautiful 52" LCD 1080p TV, HDTV cable, and an Xbox 360 with HDMI cable which currently serves as my DVD player. It's a nice setup, but the one thing that is missing is a nice sound system. I have been kicking around, but to be honest, I have no idea where to begin. Because it is an apartment, I'm not going to be installing wires, and I certainly don't want wires running all over the apartment, so that rules out wired-systems (or at least 5.1 systems with wired rear speakers). The two ideas I've come up with are as follows:
(1) Receiver, sub, two standing speakers in the front, two wireless speakers in the back, and
(2) One of those new sound bars... NO clue how they work and whether it's a good use of money, but they seem to be the new "fad."
Are either of these ideas feasible? Does the sound bar actually provide quality surround sound? And does it make sense to mix and match receivers, front speakers, and rear speakers (option 1). Sorry if this is a bit of a mess - any help or suggestions on this matter would be great. As an FYI, I'd like to keep the total cost around $1,000, but would be willing to go to $1,250 if it was exactly what I was looking for.
Thanks,
Ryan
