Help - I want to put a HDTV Card in my computer and incorporate it into my home theater

Ok so for Christmas i decided to get a lap top and get away from the bulky desk top. Now for the 5 yr. old desk top, I would like to install an HDTV card with remote control so that i can begin watching TV in my movie room. I don't have cable TV down there, i use the room for movies and gaming. I use wireless so that should work right? Also what HDTV card is recommended for my DELL computer (Do some perform better than others?). Also can i watch TV shows as they are being broadcast on my regular TV time or do i have to wait until the next day to watch a show that say airs at 7pm central time on Monday? Any help is always welcome!

If you are going to have the workstation in your theater room (which doesn't have CATV) and you are going to watch CATV on it... How, exactly is it going to get a CATV feed?
