These things are hard to diagnose in a forum but the first thing to do is double-check the speaker wires to make sure there are no frayed ends touching anything. That would cause the receiver to go into protection mode.

Also check the impendence rating of your speakers and make sure it's compatible with the ave. A 4 ohm speaker will shut off a receiver not designed for low impendence speakers.

You can also try and do a factory reset. This procedure can be found in the owners manual.

Un-fortunately, it could be something gone a-miss inside the receiver which would mean a trip to the repair shop.

I am having the same problem. My remote wasn't working so I tested it with an IR tester and it was fine. The next move was to open the cabinet and find the IR receiver. Once I found it, I wiped it with a cloth, tested it and all worked fine. Not knowing when to leave well enough alone, I cleaned it again, this time with an isopropyl alcohol swab. My next test activated the protection circuit. Could damaging the IR receiver cause this? If so, I have the parts list but I'm not sure what to look for to get a replacement. I'm an old HAM Radio operator so it doesn't bother me to get into things. The other problem is getting a schematic. You also mentioned a factory reset. The only thing I can find in the owner's manual is to unplug the power cord, then plug it in again. This isn't working. Is there some other reset? I would really appreciate any help I can get because I really do like the unit, even if it is older, and I really can't afford a new one now.
THANKS FOR ANY HELP !
Mike
