Onkyo shutting off

Thread Starter
Question for anybody. During movies, when an action scene comes up and the volume increases, my Onkyo just shuts off. I turn it right back on at a lower volume at it works fine. Have you, or anyone you know, have issues like this? And I am talking it shuts off in the 40-45 volume range.
If it helps, I have PolkAudio RM6750 hooked up to it.

This type of issue comes up on occasion with various brands and they can be tough to diagnose. The receiver is going into protect mode for some reason.

First, cover the basics. Are all the speaker connection tight and secure with no frayed wires hanging out?

Second, are the speakers set to "Small" and the cross-over set to 120 or higher?

Third, have you performed a factory reset yet? (this will cause you to lose all of your preset selections so you will have to calibrate the entire thing again but you have to try everything so...).

Another thing you can try is to disconnect the speakers one at a time to see if you can isolate the offending channel. Also, I really recommend a surge protector if you don't already have one. Doesn't have to be an expensive one, just good quality.

Home this helped but it's a real longshot.

I also answered this in the "Basics" area of forums.
The admins and mods frown very much on asking the same question in different areas of the forums!
