Looks good so far. Remakes are the best thing since old outdated movies...

pretty cool.   I loved the original so can't wait to see this.

Is it really a remake if one goes back to the source material? Unless Ray Harryhausen has a cameo of course.

300 had me wishing someone would do a mythological film again. Release the Kraken!

Looks like a cross between Lord of the Rings, 300 and Troy. I'll always like the look of the Harryhausen film, but will certainly see this one with interest.

I'm totally in.  The story synopsis works much better, too.  (Zeus vs Hades)

Please, please, please, please don't let this suck.

I'm telling you right now, if there is no Bubo the mechanical owl, you can count me out.

I've watched the trailer a few times now, and it gets better each time. The original film gets a lot of nostalgic love, but really, it's just not that good, some classic Harryhausen moments aside. The Sinbad movies are better, IMNSHO, as their reach does not so far exceed their grasp as the original Titans does.

300 + Troy + LotR = ticket sold for me. I'm looking forward to it....especially since that damn mechanical owl won't be crapping all over the screen this time.

To answer your question, I'd say no.  However, they're using the title, "Clash of the Titans", so I would say in this case it is a remake.

The trailer has me excited.

I have to say I had no interest in seeing this until I watched the trailer. Now I'm very curious about it. (I'll reserve the word "excited" for the next trailer if it's good. haha)

A new trailer is floating around YouTube (having problems linking to it). Gladiator with monsters sounds like a reasonable description.

No topless Medusa???? BOOOOOOOOOO!  ;)
All of those monsters!

And four days before God of War III is released.

And they give away all the monsters in the trailer. Were those harpies? A couple shots look more like scenes in Jason and the Argonauts. The movie looks promising though.

Perhaps Medusa wears a top only in the trailer.

I think it looks pretty good.  The Kraken will be in it!!!!!!  Can't wait.  I am pretty stoked about this one.  I have a feeling it is going to suck thou LOL

I never thought the original was all that good, even with the stellar cast (Olivier, etc.).  This looks visually impressive, but I hope the story, characters etc. hold up.

Does the Kraken remind you a bit of the Cloverfield monster, at least in the face?

Actually, my first thought was that it looks like the monster Luke fights at the beginning of Return of the Jedi.
There is a shot of the Kraken in the trailer where it is opening it's jaw that definitely reminded me of the rancor from Return of the Jedi.

This looks like it could be kick ass. I'm certainly more interested in seeing this one after watching the trailer than I am in seeing Robin Hood. I don't get the references to "Gladiator" for this film. It doesn't remind me of "Gladiator" outside of the fact that the characters use swords and wear sandals. This just looks like a huge, swashbuckling fantasy.

So is this Sam Worthington's 30th or 40th film in 2009/10?

Love the original for it's campiness. Will definitely be watching the new film.

As soon as I saw the giant scorpion I was sold. Because it's just been too damn long since we've had a good giant scorpion movie!!

I can't understand why the trailer shows the Kraken.  It's the money shot!

I don't know if this could ever recapture the experience of being newly 13 and seeing boobs and ass in a PG movie.  But even at 13, I don't recall any sort of lustful reaction the Medusa.

What is the actual release date for the 2D version? Is it still March 26 or is it April 2nd?

The official site says April 2 but I don't have a clue when the last time that site was updated.

I second that, I remember wanting a Bubo of my very own when I was little lol, in fact if anyone comes across a replica of him let me know.

I might be in the minority here but the trailer left me cold, I'm a huge fan of the original and this remake looks far too polished for me, plus I don't like how the Kraken looks.

I saw a fan made Bubo on ebay not too long ago. Mattel almost made him as part of their movie line back in the day, but never made it past the prototype.

And there is a Harryhausen approved comic book sequel.

For the above poster, the official date is indeed April 2, and according to Hollywood Reporter, is rated PG-13.  I remember that the original Clash of the Titans and Raiders of the Lost Ark actually opened on the same day when I was living in Monterey CA in 1981, and I convinced my wife and another couple to go see it instead of Raiders. (I was/am such a Harryhausen geek.)  This is one movie I will definitely see opening weekend.
