5.1 to 7.1

I am currently using a Rotel 1068 with a RMB1075 5 channel amp.  In the future I will want to upgrade to 7.1.  Is it as simple as adding another two channel amp? or do I need to replace the RMB1075 with a seven channel amp?

Hi Joel.  Welcome to the forum!

You should be able to simply add a 2 channel amp to your existing setup and be ready to roll for 7.1

 Any recommended amps?

I don't have a rec for a specific amp, but Rotel offers several, I believe.  What you might do is get a more powerful 2 or 3 channel amp to power the front 2 (or 3) speakers, then use the 5 channel for the surrounds.  Yeah, you might end with a spare amp channel, but the added headroom can be nice.

I think you can go with Rotel RB 1070 for your  7.1 set up.

Another item to look at is the Outlaw Audio 2200 mono block 200w power amp. Just get a couple of them and call it a day.
