deepdiscount november 2009 sale? shouldn't it started already for 2009... codes anyone?

According to a thread running over at DVDTalk.com, the "sale" is 40% off MSRP and will run 11/13/09-11/23/09.  A real letdown.  I, like many others, will probably not make any purchases this time for the simple fact that many of the recent "sales" are actually better than what's coming up.

There is already a discussion on this topic taking place in THIS THREAD over in the appropriate Bargains & Deals sub-forum.

oh man, so how's this 40% off MSRP vs the ol' 20% off "regular price" they've been having for the past few years?  i assume it's worse... but much worse?

what are the codes? i can't seem to find them anywhere... so the sale's ON as of now (11/09/09)?

Focus, Wayne.  Focus.

DVDTalk info, if confirmed, is a bummer for me.  I guess I've gotten used to that semi-annual DD sale like others on the 'net bd's.  I'll have to pass the info, once verified, to that guy at the North Pole and let him know.  Sounds like "Santa" will be paying Amazon a visit,  I like their Wish List setup better since there's a "public" viewing option for one's list.  Makes it easy for Santa each year.

oh i see, HOTSTUFF, but 40% off MSRP seems like it's not too different than border sales then... just did a quick comparison:

Battlestar Galactica - The Complete Series
$279.95 MSRP
$181.89 DDD price

20% off $181.89 would've been = $145.51
but 40% off $279.95 MSRP would be = $167.97

so that's $167.97 instead of $145.51
it's only a less than 9% off $181.89 DDD price instead of double that
but we still get $13.92 off
guess that's not much when a 20% off normal DDD would be $36.38, uh...

sheeesh, we waited a whole yr for this one
when might the next REAL SALE come on?

ahhh, just did a quick comparison w/ Battlestar Galactica - The Complete Series

MSRP  $279.95
regular DDD: $181.89

w/ a 20% off $181.89 it would've been = $145.51
but 40% off MSRP  $279.95 is only a little more than $13
that's $38 vs $13... oh this DOES BLOW
and to think we waited a yr for this! ahhhh!

so when would the REAL SALE be? if they'd hv another one, ever?

The DD sale's price of $168 would still be cheaper then anyone else. I'm not happy about not getting as much of a discount this go around either, but DD can't catch a break. It's not enough to be cheaper then everyone else, they also have to always be cheaper then what they themselves have ever been in the past or they get tossed to the wolves.

While I'm no longer going to be making any huge purchases this month, I would still have to consider DD for any casual purchase since the chances are they still will be the cheapest price in town.

Let's focus a bit. This whole sales affair is being discussed in another thread already, here.

Also, let's not forget that it's up to the courtesy of a retailer to offer an extraordinary discount - or not.
