November 2nd site updates on the way this afternoon!

Thread Starter
Hello Home Theater Forum community!  A big thanks to those of you who have taken some time to give us your feedback on the new activity stream.  We'll be updating this site this afternoon with a few adjustments for you.  Here are some things to look for:
  • All content in the activity stream will fully display in reverse chronological order - some of you mentioned clicking the "More" button and seeing some duplications of threads.  This issue will be resolved and the stream will keep adding content in reverse chronological order based on last post when you click to see "More."  You'll still occasionally see the refresh icon at the top of the stream to the right of the "Settings" tab - clicking on this will refresh the stream with all the latest content at the top.
  • IE6 users will see a couple of modifications to the stream aesthetics so that word wrapping will perform a bit better for threads with longer titles; you'll also see the missing + buttons return for threads you've posted in.
  • Post edits which were previously displaying when you expanded a thread action item in the feed will no longer appear when you are viewing Summary View.
  • Any information about which threads have been tagged will also no longer appear when you are viewing Summary View.  For these last two bullets, remember you can also see more if you uncheck the "Summary View" box on the settings tab.
  • Your settings preferences (Summary View or detailed view) were not sticking previously when you navigated back with your browser's back button - this issue will now be fully resolved.
Thanks again!

what is the "new activity stream"?

is that what i see on the "Home" page called "
Recent Home Theater Forum Activity".

Also should this eliminate seeing when someone edits a post and this showing as a new post?

becasue i just checked and I'm still seeing edited posts as anew post.

Thanks, Ron.  This has made the last week or so navigating the forum extremely difficult for me.

As someone who leans on their home page's list of subscribed threads to keep track of what's new, it was hard to find the affected threads which fell off of page one.  Sometimes I had to click three or four times in order to feel like I had seen all the recent threads.

I had a dialogue with Benjamin after the redesign of the home page that I now hope there will be some kind of continuity among the various sections of the forum...meaning that index pages will react in the same way, that buttons and links will react the same and appear in the same place.  This is NOT the case currently.  One can't be sure, for example, if you click on the title of a thread if you will be going to the "first new post' or the "first post."  Forum navigation also varies from section-to-section.  There are many inconsistencies like this.

Here's hoping that positive things continue!

Just an observation...not a complaint.  Another behavior has changed since the implementation of these changes.

I'm using FF 3.5.4 on XP.  Since these changes, if I'm on my home page and click on a thread with new posts, and then go to the thread and see the new posts and click the "back" button on my browser, I now get an updated page which "knows" that I now have no new posts in that thread I just visited.

Until these changes were made, it used to be that I'd hit "back" and the home page still showed that I had "x" new posts.
