Will "Disney" release their collection of "Shorts" on Blu-ray?

I did a search on this forum looking for a thread that would answer my question but couldn't find one. My apologies if I overlooked it somewhere. But since I brought it up, are there ANY plans to remaster the old classic Disney shorts (1920's to 1960s) into a series of collector's Blu-ray discs?  And if there are no plans in the forseeable future, do you think that it will eventually happen?

Most of them were mastered in HD (except for some shorts on one volume of The Chronological Donald, if I remember correctly) so they're bound to be released sooner or later. If it will be under the Walt Disney Treasures banner will have to be seen. Dick Cook was one of the people who made the series possible in the first place, and he is now gone. Apparently the rest of the board isn't so thrilled with the Treasures line, so it's guesswork to say if the line will continue or not.

Thanks for that post. I found it informative. :) By the way, I'm curious to know why Disney's "Treasure" banner is disliked by some people on this forum?

Woops, I didn't mean this board, but more the board of directors at Disney .

Anything greater than five years old, especially if the namesake of the company was involved in its production, seems to be disliked by the board. The guy who replaced Dick Cook, who worked his way up from a theme park employee to head of Walt Disney Pictures over 37 years, is (at least partially) responsible for turning (The) Disney Channel from a whole-family network with classic Disney material galore to a teenybopper nightmare.

As for the possibility of seeing this material on BD, I'm all for it if they can solve the registration problems on the 1930s Technicolor material.
