I hooked my TV to Receiver with HDMI? Where's the sound?

This is an easy one for you guys. 

I hooked my HDMI cable box to my receiver (Onkyo HTS 5200) using a HDMI cable. 
I hooked my TV (LG 50PS60) to my receiver using a HDMI cable.

I don't have any sound coming through.  Do I need to use a seperate fiber cable for the audio, or should I get sound through the HDMI cable?

The HT-S5200 is HDMI "Pass Through" only. In these cases, HDMI does not carry the audio. You need a separate connection for audio, such as optical or digital coax. Run one of those from the cable box to the receiver. HDMI "pass through", is for easy switching.

They tell everyone how HDMI carries both video and audio, and then they do the HDMI "pass through", which I think is kinda stupid. Are they deliberately trying to confuse people? People buy something, and when they get it home, they find out it's not what they thought it was.

But, in their defense, Onlyo does say that system is pass through with the * (HDMI pass through*) and then explains......... * separate audio connection required. So, you have to research.

I know that wasn't what you wanted to hear. You probably thought you would be able to send audio over the HDMI (since you asked the question). When looking a system that does audio over HDMI, you need to look for ..... HDMI v1.3a Repeater.

Ed:  Thanks for the reply.  I looked at so many systems that I forgot most of what I researched.  I just thought I remembered the audio was carried through on the 5200 and not the 3200.  No big deal.  I have seperate fiber cables and the audio comes through fine on those.  Just didnt know if I had an unnecessary cable I was using.
