I recently replaced a Sony ES receiver in my home theater setup with a Marantz SR7001 that has the (almost) latest and greatest hdmi connections and codecs. My setup is simple: a Panasonic Blu Ray player outputting PCM via HDMI to my receiver, and then from the receiver out to my Sony 60" rear projector.... no other components connected to the receiver. During BR playback, the audio AND video inexplicably drop off every 20 minutes or so, for a period of about 10 seconds, then resume play as normal. I never had this problem until I began routing the HDMI through my receiver, so for now I'm blaming the Marantz but I don't know that for sure.... the only other piece that has been added is the additional HDMI cable that I needed to go from the receiver to the TV, but the likelihood of having a faulty cable seems low (the cable is from BlueJean cable so it is a quality component).
