Wife yes, Man Cave No, so "designer" products must I go?

Tube tv died so we're getting rid of the solid cherry wall unit and are starting with a 14 x 15 room where the primary viewing distance will be 12 - 13'.  There is seating off to the side 6' from the center of the wall where people will be 6 - 10' away.

Biggest issue is that directly opposite the tv wall is a huge picture window running the length of the room.  The drapes are sheer, allowing filtered light, but there have always been clear reflections on the tv screen.

So, two issues:  Which television and what furniture to buy?  Our budget won't allow for a new sound system, which we'll upgrade when the money tree grows back.

Because of the reflectivity issue is an LCD with a matte screen the best choice?  50 - 55"?  Samsung makes some nice ones in the 650 and 750 series, but they have shiny screens.  The 550  and 530 models have matte screens.  We'd like to keep the budget around $1,100 assuming we find a great deal someplace.  Is 6th Ave okay or are there better places to buy.  I'm fine with buying on line.

The furniture is in my wife's domain and she really likes the BDI Avion series.  It is beautiful and very well built, but commands a premium price and doesn't seem to be discounted anywhere.

I also see BB carries Magnolia, which looks like their attempt to fill the higher end market and we'll have to check out their furniture.

Again, I welcome all input!

Thanks kindly

For that seating distance, a 60" to 65" will really be the best. DLP is a lot less reflective than LCD, and especially plasma. A DLP that size will be a little more than the $1100 you mentioned though. But an LCD that size is way more than that. If you must go with a 50" to 55" screen, I'd move the seats at least 4' to 5' closer. We have a 61", and sit 11' away, which is perfect. Believe me, my wife would definitely say something, if that was too close!

I can't tell you anything about furniture. We just got a stand to put everything on. I have an Onkyo receiver, and didn't want to close it in an entertainment center, so a stand worked great for us. We got it at Best Buy, and matched our tv size to the stand.
Good luck with whatever you get.
