Sony STR-DH700 Maxiumum HD Devices

Hi there.

I am looking to purchase the STR-DH700 but had a question the sales person was unable to answer, thought I'd pass it to you all. 

I see there are 3 HDMI in and 1 HDMI out - which is fine, however I have 4 HD devices to connect and confused about it.  The info says it has 6 HD video in,- 3 HDMI & 3 Component in.

My problem is since I have 3 HDMI devices and 1 Component, can I connect all at the same time?  The images found here www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Item/Photos/Default.aspx might help to understand what I'm talking about.

I guess I just want to know how many HD sources I can have connected at once.

Guy, I think so. I don't see why not. Component hookup is considered, I think, in some cases at least, to be considered HD. It will only output up to 720p, I think (possibly 1080i, not sure). So, if you want to get a 1080p output, you would need an hdmi cable, not component.

But, 3 hdmi in, one component in and one hdmi out. Should work just fine. Again, I don't see why not. (My set up--different brands- has two hdmi in and one component in (with 6 analog wires for audio)). They all go out to the tv via one hdmi cable. Works just fine.

The thing I'm confused about is if one input - HDMI 1 - is in use, can I also connect something to Component 1?

Yes, you should be able to have all four (or six since it has six) connections hooked up at once and be able to switch between sources using your remote(s) (at least my receiver is set up that way). That is, unless there is something in the Sony that prohibits that (which I doubt). Hdmi 1 and component 1 should be two separate and completely independant connections. Using one should have no affect on the other.
