New system for Man cave- componets or all in one?

While I'm quite happy with my main system, I want to put a small system in my basement getaway. Really thinking about going the "theater in a box," instead of seperate componets. Any Ideas on a good sounding all in one that won't break the bank?

How big is your bank?  Without a hard budget we don't even know where to start.

There are some decent Home Theater in a Box systems out there - but it would be easier to recommend one if we had some more information.

How large is the room?  How many (and what type) video sources do you intend to hook up to the system?  Will this be 5.1 or 7.1?  Most importantly, can you be more specific on your budget constraints?

HTiB's are a convenient way to get started, but that convenience often comes at a price - typically, they're limited in the number of inputs they support, and their speakers aren't the best performers (certainly an issue if your room is large).

One of the best HTiB systems (in terms of features and expandability) is the Onkyo HT-S9100THX.  It supports HDMI 1.3a (including the HD audio formats you get with Blu-Ray) and has 4 HDMI inputs.  Onkyo receivers also incorporate Audyssey - which is their form of auto-calibration for the speaker levels/output.  The sytem will cost you, though - it certainly is at the upper end of the spectrum of HTiBs.

If you can answer some of the questions above, we may be able to point you towards some less expensive systems that will work for you.

Thanks guys. Budget is $ 500.00. The room is not that big, 12 x 14.  I have 1 32" LCD that will be the video platfom.  I'm looking for an all in one HTiB with a built in DVD player. Not sure if it will be Blu-Ray or not. TV is the only Video source. 5.1 is the plan, but still open to 7.1.
I would like to use existing speakers, but realize that most HTiB are aroud 3 or 4 ohms.
That said, just needing a center, sub and receiver I could go seperates.

I just picked up the Onkyo HTS5200 7.1 system for $400.  Haven't even installed it yet, but it looks impressive and is a top rated HTIB by some of these guys.
