I'm inclinded to think you have something set wrong in the setup menu. What model Blu-ray player do you have and how is it connected to your audio system.
A few more questions. Is it connected to a receiver? If so what is the model? Are you using HDMI, toslink or a coax digital cable to connect the Blu-ray player? What are some DVDs you have tried? What does your receiver show in the display when a DVD is being played?
